Holiday Help!

We have a son who'll be nearly 3 when we want to go away in April and a daughter who's 4.

Can't decide between 7 days in Madeira (never been but looks stunning) with zero kids entertainment etc and limited beaches but very relaxing and we'd have our own pool

OR

7 days in somewhere like the Canary Islands with all the tacky stuff that kids love like entertainment, crazy splash pools etc (and the crowds that come with all that stuff).

They've never been on one of those holidays with 'entertainment' so not even sure they'd be bothered at their ages...

Anyone any advice? TIA!

I'd say at that age you can still get away without all the razzle dazzle as they just want to spend time with you. However, a sandy beach is a real highlight too at that age so could you look into a villa but not Madeira?

@fusionchefgeoff

There are 2 beach areas but manmade which isn't a problem I don't think for 2 little ones.. they won't know. I agree that I think we've got years ahead of all that razzle and dazzle (and tack!) and if we can get away with not having all that for a couple more years we should make the most of it! Boyfriend thinks we need all that package holiday stuff but I shall override him I think! Madeira is tempting because it's so cheap for flights and not too long a flight either.

I’d go for Madeira. At their ages I don’t think you need all the entertainment. They may find it overwhelming and not even want to join in anyway.

My little boy has only been to the UK coast because of covid, but he constantly goes on about it - every sunny day he asks, "beach?"

He just absolutely loves playing in the sand with us, buying an icecream, playing on the swings by the beach and then doing it all again exactly the same next day.

We did manage one holiday in Tenerife when he was a tiny baby, he doesnt remember it but he did like that too. Just bobbing about in the swimming pool.

I'd go for Madeira, it sounds absolutely lovely. I totally agree all the entertainment is useful when they are a little bit older - for now they will be thrilled with very basic holiday activities.
