Anyone got a cruise booked?

We have a cruise booked for July 2022. It's one that we moved from July 2020. However, it's with Princess cruises, and their vaccination policy is that ALL passengers regardless of age must be vaccinated, but, being in the UK, our 11 year old is too young to get the vaccine, so what do we do?

I'm starting to think it's yet another holiday we're going to have to cancel. I do a lot of research into holidays, to make sure it's everything that we want it to be, but I'm so fed up now of spending all that time researching the perfect holiday, then ending up having to cancel. I think I'm going to give up and stop fighting it. Don't book any more holidays, get as much money back as I can on holidays that I've had to cancel. I've felt really sorry for the travel industry up until now, but I think they're being their own worst enemies. This is going to be the 3rd summer of not being able to have a family holiday, if this carries on.

If we do have to cancel, I don't see why we should lose money, when we had no idea at the time of booking, that they would insist on vaccines for ALL passengers regardless of age! I so wish I'd just got my money back when they offered it.

Sorry, rant over. Just so pissed off.

What’s the cancellation policy like? Is it worth waiting and seeing if the vaccination programme opens up to younger children before your holiday? I guess you’ve been caught out because the restriction seems to be with US guests in mind who can vaccinate their under 12s (but I guess those in the US with under 5s are in the same position as you?)

I know they’ll lose business from families like yours but they must have thought they’d lose more from people who wouldn’t want to go if non vaccinated guests - including kids - were onboard.

I'll contact our travel agent on Monday to find out what our options are. I don't see why we should cancel - as I see it, it's the cruise line that will have to cancel us because it's their decision to put a restriction in place, after we've booked, that means we can't go.

Also, it's the whole stress of trying to predict the future. We could get our money back now (probably), but maybe they'll drop the vaccine requirement, or under 12s will be allowed to be vaccinated, and then we'll be gutted that we cancelled.

The requirement for vaccination is going to get a bit ridiculous, when most people's vaccines will have been over a year ago, and longer as time goes by. I had my second vaccine in June, so I can go on that basis (without even having a booster), and my DD had actual COVID in December, so she probably has much higher antibody levels than me at the moment, but she can't go.
