Balcony or Poolside with 2 year old

So we will be going on our first family holiday as part of a wedding that’s been postponed, with our 2 year old (will be 2 and 3 months). We need to book a hotel for a few nights separate from the wedding venue, and don’t know if a balcony or room on ground floor with poolside access is better with a 2 year old? (The pool is still a fair distance away from the room).

I know we will have to have our eyes on her at all times anyway, but practically is it better to have the ground floor so we can sit outside in the evenings but if one of us needed to we could easily nip out to other areas of the hotel? Rather than go back through the room and potentially disturbing her sleep? Or is it better to have a private balcony to relax in evenings?

She sleeps quite deeply and with white noise anyway, so hoping this would block out noise from us or passers by anyway!

I know it might seem like something silly to worry about but it’s literally our first break in years - we haven’t even managed a night somewhere locally during the pandemic and as first time parents we will take all the advice we can get!

I’d go for the balcony as I normally don’t swim or generally do much after dinner and some rooms with direct pool access feel a bit insecure with regard to unwanted intruders.

Balcony sounds safer. If she’s a good sleeper, you walking past shouldn’t be an issue.

Balcony

Unless the pool is fenced off then I’d prob go balcony

I'd go for a balcony, I'm not a fan of sleeping on the ground floor (it's a weird thing!) and if it's warm you might be able to leave the doors open on the balcony more easily than on the ground floor.

Oh yes all very good points. Thank you!

Are they a climber? I couldn't relax with mine trying to peek over the balcony everytime they heard laughter from the pool. We ended up having to remove the draggable furniture!
