Lake Garda caravan parks

Hello...anyone got any recommendations or thoughts. We want to be car free whilst there and been looking at del Garda village. Ideally somewhere with a water slide and no more than 20 min walk to the lake or a town... definitely don't want a hotel has the self catering and have communal areas where dc can play with other kids 😊

Bella Italia meets those criteria.

Bella Italia was fab. Only downside was the pool area was super busy and if you don't join the morning stampede for a sunbed then you won't get one! Otherwise no complaints, super close to a nice town with lovely restaurants and near Garda land. One of my favourite holidays (even with the subbed scramble!). Although we stayed in an apartment and not a caravan so I can't comment on those.

Bella Italian here too. We stayed in a static (although small it was really nice), pools were fab, you were right on the lake and if you didn't want to walk into town there was a land train. DS was 4 at the time and adored it.

We’ve stayed at camping weekend near Salo, it is possible to walk into the town but it’s probably more than a20 minute walk, absolutely loved it though.

Wevsyated at Del Garda village and loved it. It is smaller than Bella so less busy. Ten minute walk to a food supermarket. Bathing platforms on the doorstep. Easy walk into town. Look at night tickets for Gardaland. It’s quieter and cooler but more importantly, less busy! We ended up going twice at night as it was so much fun.

We’re also going to Lake Garda in the summer and wondering which campsite to pick.

Deciding between Bella Italia or Cisano San Vito. Anyone got suggestions/recommendations? We have one 7 year old, preferences are some slides in the pool and kids club. Slightly keener on a Cisano at the moment as prices are a little better and it’s close to Bardolino which seems to get better reviews that Peschiera.

These places look lovely!

How do you get there? Do you drive or fly/coach? Thanks

We stayed at Bella Italia when DC’s were 9 and 4 in 2017. Absolutely loved it, evening entertainment was really fun for their ages and they spent hours every day in the pool. Site staff were quite strict about noise after 11pm. We hired pedalos on the lake a few times with slides off the back. Was a really lovely chilled holiday!

Any that are run by Human Travel. They are simply the best caravan sites we have ever used. We've been to a few of them across Italy and are going to the Rome one this year. The kids pools are rubber lagoons that are a joy to walk and play in with the kids. They do kids clubs, they play areas are lovely and the food places are wonderful.

Lots of good tips will keep on researching and watching. Thank you for all the comments. Bella Italia did feel a bit big to us

Bella Italia seems to really get a lot of positivity. Has anyone booked direct with them? I would like to be at Cisano for the location but not sure how much we’ll be out and about anyway as I know my DD will want to use the parc entertainment.

Winglet · 11/01/2022 11:15

Oh and thanks for starting thread @Attictroll

We've stayed at Campeggio del Garda a few times and found it perfect for lake access. It's a nice stroll into town. No waterslides but we all loved jumping off the jetty into the lake, the pedaloes and the speedboats. One of my favourite places.

awonderfuladventure · 11/01/2022 23:16

And would book direct, it was a lot cheaper.

Second all the recommendations for Bella Italia, although it's definitely the more expensive option compared to other sites.

The walk along the lake into Peschiera from BI is lovely and it's a nice wee town with ferry access to other towns around the lake.

If it makes a difference you can also easily hop on the bus at the front of Bella to visit Bardolino and other towns really easily. I was so impressed with the bus service along the lake.

Think Cisano has a new pool with splash park, but also think from memory that the site is split across two sides of the main lakeside road? Happy to be corrected if this isn't the case!

Yes you're right. We went to Cisano in 2020. Loved it! The splitting of the two parks isn't an issue at all. We went with human travel. Couldn't fault it
