Rome February half term

Thinking on going to Rome in Feb half term. What are the the current requirements for Italy?, 2 adults with fully vaccinated, one teenager who only has one vaccine and one 11 year old.

Also, is 4 days enough?

What should we see? do we need to book in advance?

What happens if we need to cancel the flight ? what airline should we use? travelling from London

The rules are here. It sounds as if a Super Green Pass will be needed for everything and your teen will not get one as not fully vaccinated. I really would leave it a while longer.

February would be great for a trip to Rome but remember it ‘s Carnevale period (4 weeks up to 3rd March) which means enforced jollity, pranks and kids throwing confetti or spray string.

I live in NE Italy where it’s very popular. Rome not so much but there may be a bit more confusion on the streets.

Book in advance with a guaranteed entry time for all attractions especially the Colosseum and the Vatican. You don’t want to spend hours queuing. Villa Borghese has gone onto my bucket list as we couldn’t get tickets even three months before.

Wear strong shoes because Rome has a lot of cobbled streets.

There is the “no sitting on national monuments” rule enforced by local Rome police and armed anti terrorist police in major sites.

Restrictions and mitigations are being tightened, extra ones coming in between now and 1/2/22.
Your teenager and possibly your 11 year old won't even be allowed to eat at outdoor tables in restaurants as the rules stand now. (as pp has said, Super Green Pass will be needed for that) Base Green Pass will be needed to enter shops etc.

I'd wait at the moment, as unless you're all in possession of at least a Base Pass, you'll be very restricted with what you can do. The new legislation was approved last night. I think you'll need the pass for hotels as well.

It looks like we are stuck in the UK until DD1 a bit longer.

Are there any other countries we could visit in Europe with more relaxed rules?

Most of mainland Europe is getting hit with Omicron quite badly at the moment. I don't see restrictions easing for a while.

As an aside even if you have been vaccinated they are tightening up vaccine passport rules you have to have had all three in one go.
