Hey
So we have decided to book our next holiday to Canada next year. We were planning to go 16 years ago but I fell pregnant with DD1 and we never went. If you were me with DH and 2 teenage DDs where in Canada would you go? I love the idea of Banf or Lake Louise but DH really wants to see Niagra falls .... anyone have any advice?

Spent our best holiday ever in western Canada a few years ago. Flew into Calgary then self drive via Lake Louise Banff (stayed in Canmore though) Jasper Whistler Vancouver Island and Vancouver over 2 week period then weeks Alaska cruise. Flew back from Vancouver.
We stayed in a mixture of bed and breakfasts small hotels couple of nights on a ranch and couple of nights in more up market Pan Pacific hotels. All booked about 6-9 months before travel after lots of research.
With the car hire we used something called GyPSy GPS guide which was a machine but now appears to be an app which was excellent giving us lots of information

We went to Canada a few years ago to visit relatives on Salt Spring Island and then drove across The Rockies. It was very pleasant, and fantastic scenery but wouldn't have been my first choice for a holiday as not ' different ' enough from life in UK. A visit to West Africa was much more exciting. I realise that with Covid and for a family holiday Canada would be a much safer bet.

We stayed in Vancouver for about 5 days and visited Vancouver Island.

We hired a motorhome and then toured The Rockies. It was just amazing, so beautiful.

I agree with wineandchocolatefor thewin, Lake Peyto is truly stunning.

We have also visited Toronto, Niagara, Quebec, Montreal and Ottowa. Vancouver and The Rockies had the edge for us though.

We did a tour from Banff to Jasper, (Lakes Louise and Peyto, Athabasca Glacier, Maligne Lake which is gorgeous). Then 2 and a half days on the Rocky Mountaineer train to Whistler, Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Fantastic holiday.

I’m booked up for Canada in July 22. Flying into Vancouver. I have hired a car via my flight booking with British Airways. I’ve been before (pre-kids) and the Rockies were amazing so will probably head up there for a bit before returning to Vancouver (and, of course, Vancouver Island). Banff is delightful! 🍁 🇨🇦
