Is it crazy to take my 3yo on holiday by myself (not single parent just desperate for some sun)

My OH has no annual leave left for various family emergency reasons. I'm desperate for a bit of sun and am considering going alone for a week to canaries or similar with our 3 yo. Is this mad? I can't decide. I love holidays more than life, but is this ridiculous?

Not crazy at all. I'd recommend Martinhal Sagres in the Algarve. Short flight, very well equipped for toddlers, nice creche on site which is included in the price (book the creche places as soon as you book the holiday as it gets full up) so you can get a couple of hours break each day. Get accommodation with a balcony or separate lounge area so you can sit with a nice glass of wine and a book after bed time. The restaurant there was so good. DC will likely find some little friends to play with. There's a brilliant toddler pool.

Get some good activities for the flight (iPad and PlayDough at the least) and plenty of snacks for the journey and you will be fine. Start prepping DC early for what's going to happen - talk about going on a plane, being in the queue for security, etc. Having to be patient in the queues etc.

Thanks everyone, you're convincing me to just go for it!

Hi

I travel regularly solo with my little boy who will be 3 in April. Just go for it. Honestly you'll have the best time.

Manage your expectations as you’re a parent on holiday. Go low key and use it as a time to relax, go to bed early etc.

Absolutely not crazy! I would (and did) do it.

Hi do you know the name of any companies ?

I'm a lone parent and have travelled for years on my own with DD14.

The main reason I used Scott Dunn was for the kids clubs so she had a blast for a few hours and I got some time out.

Early nights etc too so it was really lovely!

Go somewhere with a decent kids club.
