Hi - can anyone help?
Its my birthday today and DP has very generously given me a bike, fitted with a baby seat already. However, I need to get my 11 mo a bike helmet before I take him out in it.
I have no idea which one is good or if he is too young to take out in it yet.

Any tips from seasoned cyclists would be really useful! x

They all meet safety requirements - most important thing is to make sure it fits properly. I would go to an independent bike shop or at least Halfords rather than Argos, Toys r us.

And do you think 11 months is old enough (not too young) to be taken out on the back of a bike? The bike seat says it is suitable up to X weight. So that covers him, and its pretty sturdy, but I don't know/haven't seen anyone take babies out in them before.

Is it one of those bike seats with quite a high back on it so he's well supported? If so then I'd have thought he'd be fine.

yes he'll be fine. i used a bike seat when dd1 was small.

now i have a trailer for dd3.

Thanks, yes. Its a high backed one.
Ok, as soon as I get him a helmet we'll be off and my fat arse start to shrink!

btw - am not using this as an excuse to start cycling, but I'm a little bit aprehensive about going out with a baby so exposed on the back.
Obviously I will have to be totally aware of other drivers etc, but I think I may be too chicken to do it on busy roads for a while.

Definetly start off on a cycle track or quiet road while you get into it as you may be slightly wobbly while you get used to the extra weight on the back.
