Renewing child passport and grandparent details

I have just had a look at the form for renewing my child’s passport and it mentions parents born after 82 are to include g/parent information including marriage? How does this work if g/parent has been married numerous times, does this mean first marriage? Do I put my mum’s name as it is now or when I was born? I was born after 82. I’ve looked in booklet and tried gov.uk but it’s not very clear. I have a passport and my mum does too albeit both out of date. Wouldn’t they just be able to look at those for details?

I'd use the name in your Mom's lass passport. I've never been so glad to have been born in 81!

It means the child's biological grandparents
It's to check nationality

Wrt the name, put the name she is known as now. Their records will supply the rest of she has had a ppt herself.

Might be worth checking if this section is actually required for renewal of a passport. Might just be for first application. There's a colour-coded guide of which sections you need to fill in.

www.gov.uk/get-a-child-passport/renew-a-child-passport
www.gov.uk/government/publications/applying-for-a-passport

According to these links and documents, for renewal, section 8 about grandparents isn't required?

I was going to say same as @YouTubeIsYourMotherNow. I recently renewed my DCs passports and don’t recall having to fill grandparent info out at all. I did use that Post Office check and priority mail service though. They check your application to see if it’s all there and properly done and then they have a special bag that goes straight to the passport office so it never mixes with regular mail and so no chance the old passport can get lost in the mail.

Thank you! I will have another look at it. I was thinking if for a renewal do I really need to complete that bit as I would have included it in his first one, I think. It was over 5 year ago. I do recall I had to complete the form about 3 times though as I kept making mistakes. I will be using the post office to check it though!

I’ve just looked at the booklet and there is a key and everything as to what needs completing. I don’t need to do g/parent info for it after all.
