No Brits in France from Saturday

France has just announced that they’re closing their external border (ie - to us!) from Saturday, and Brits won’t be able to enter France without a “force majeure”

Lots of people had plans to go to France or through France.

It's not come in yet so unfortunately there's no detailed info how this would work. It seems they talk of introducing this sometime in January. As far as I can see for now - a 14 yo with only one jab would have to test every day. As of January, any over 18s must have had their booster.

@MissAmbrosia are they stopping cars on the highway into France from belguim then, as in a road block else how would they know?

Macron is a dick. The French ski industry depends on the Brits, massive own goal, no rhyme or reason for it. Omicron is everywhere.

@OverByYer- the French ski industry tends to get the better off Brits. The Swiss just relaxed their rules yesterday - I bet to get the British skiers who may have otherwise gone to France, just as Macron has rejected them.
I know a few people who have rebooked to go skiing in Switzerland now.
Omicron is openly acknowledged as a problem in Switzerland but skiing can arguably be done relatively safely outdoors with right mitigations in place.

Yes my son was due to go skiing in France just after Christmas, he's going to Switzerland now instead.
My brother and his family are going to Bulgaria now as well.

The industry as a whole doesn’t depend on the Brits, certainly not locally to us (Pyrenees)….

Ok maybe not depend but they’ll lose revenue

No - there are no restrictions currently travelling from Belgium to France. There ARE big restrictions travelling from UK. I am seeing lots of people with plans ruined as their families cannot transit France via Eurotunnel.

EU does NOT depend on British tourists FFS. I keep hearing this. There are 27 countries in the EU with almost unrestricted travel. No-one cares about the Brits really. It's done them a favour in many cases.
