Sorry if this has already been asked a gazillion times, does anyone know what needs to be done to travel to & from France this Xmas?

Is it just an antigen test & evidence of vaccine for over 12s at each border?

Many thanks

I have done an internet search but it seems much simpler than I thought, so wondering if I'm reading it wrong/ missing something.

We are going in 2 weeks, test before you leave, test for coming back and day 2 PCR.

magicstars · 10/12/2021 19:50

Thanks @Snooper22 is that PCR for under 12s too? I'm reading conflicting info on this.

You need to provide a declaration too. www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coronavirus-advice-for-foreign-nationals-in-france/ Link to it is on this page - scroll down a bit.

To come back to the UK you will need to fill in a PLF (passenger locator form) You will need to have booked and paid for day 2 PCR tests for anyone over 5 years old. You need the code(s) from your order to complete the PLF. Everyone needs to isolate in the UK until you have recived the results of the day 2 tests.

Re your LFTs in France before you travel back to the UK, under 12s do not need to do these.

This applies to all travellers, regardless of vccination status.

Thank you all

@percythewitch where did you get the info from please? I can't find anything on the gov website that says over 5s require PCRs.

The LFTs before going can't be self administered.

DiamondSnow · 14/12/2021 12:08

Are you planning to ski or go to any indoor public spaces, bars, restaurants etc?
If so all over 12s need pass sanitaire which will involve a paid for test within 24 hours to do these things, if not fully vaccinated (2 jabs for 12-64 yo, 3 jabs for age 65+)

percythewitch · 14/12/2021 13:02

@magicstars

It's on gov.uk

www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19#travelling-with-children

Travelling with children
Children aged 4 and under do not have to take any COVID-19 travel tests.
Children aged 12 to 17 must take a COVID-19 test in the 2 days before travel to England.
Children aged 5 to 17 have to follow the testing and quarantine rules for people who qualify as fully vaccinated on arrival in England.
This means that they have to quarantine on arrival and take a PCR test on or before day 2.

percythewitch · 14/12/2021 13:03

Sorry, I thought I had bolded the relevant section but clearly failed!!!

Snooper22 · 14/12/2021 14:05

You can use self administered tests just not nhs ones and ones which provide certification.

magicstars · 14/12/2021 14:43

Thank you 😊
