Covid pass for 12-15 year olds?

Does anyone know how on earth we can travel internationally with kids of this age group? My 13 year old had Covid recently and for 90 days she cannot get a vaccine. If she were aged 16 or over, she could get the NHS app and prove her recovery status or a letter from the GP. None of this applies for the under 16. We are due to travel for Chriistmas to a country where the over 12 need a Covid pass. We haven't seen a single family member in 18 months and it looks like even this Christmas we will be apart if I don't find a way to prove her recovery status. Does anyone know how to? Thanks for any advice you may have.

Sorry OP. We’re in the same boat. We’re going to France and we’ll have to test constantly.

You’re supposed to be able to link a child’s nhs app to yours as the parent and your GP needs to do it… my GP is a tiny village practice and it’s like they’ve not heard of an app. Dh has been speaking to nhs digital and our GP but it’s not looking good. Dh printed out the instructions and delivered them to the bewildered practice manager earlier. We fly in a week! Essentially we will have to treat her like a child under 12 and do all the extra testing hoping the pcr doesn’t show positive because she’s already had covid within 12 weeks.

Which countries accept COVID recovery letters. I didn’t think any did?

I've asked this before and was suggested to try this. I've not done yet as we are a couple of weeks away still but perhaps worth exploring

Same problem - GP won't provide recovery letter (it doesn't exist in the UK and you can't re-test until 90 days after the infection) and NHS app linked to parents won't work either - the system won't allow it at our surgery and probably most others.
The whole thing is a total nightmare - daily antigen tests have to be done at designated testing centre in France and they're all booked. We're strangled by red tape and extra cost - it's a non-starter...

OP, she can travel with LFTs/PCRs and although fragments can linger it’s worth checking this with an at home LFT before booking anything overseas. Very few U.K. under 16’s are double jabbed so all need negative tests to travel to most places anyway. The issue is once you are there - depending where you are going - is the need for her to keep testing negative!

It does exist. You just have to pay privately

Today, the NHS COVID pass will be rolled out to 12-15 year olds for international travel, allowing even more people to be able to prove their vaccine status.

Not soon enough though is it? The main issue is having to wait 12 weeks between vaccines and not 7 like adults. The first jabs were rolled out in October half term in our area so not due 2nd doses until end of January. Does seem late to give them decent immunity of winter.

I was told that the US does (not sure if it makes a difference they are citizens though)
MandalaYogaTapestry · 14/12/2021 23:25

Austria does. In fact, it accepts either Covid Pass or Proof of Recovery. A negative test result will not do.

Thatisme · 17/12/2021 16:00

Thank you for your replies. In our case the certificate of recovery would be accepted but the GP won't do it. They said that we need to obtain it privately, but it is expensive and we can't possibly add that to the already extortionate cost of testing. It feels like it's all a money making exercise while people's lives are messed up. It will be a very sad Christmas. :(
