Hi, we’re going to Lapland in a couple of weeks. I’ve never done a cold trip before and I’m unsure of a few areas… I’ve bought base layers. What do I need on top of those before I put my snow suit on? My son has got joggers.
Also is a jumper dress ok for the travelling day? I figured I could put my thermals in a bag to put under when we arrive?
We have a package so the snow suits are given when we arrive.
Many thanks for any tips

The new rules come in on 21st - the day we fly out.

I was following the finnish news where it was suggested people arriving from UK would have restrictions straight away but in the end it seems it is recommended that you have a test before entry but it is not a requirement before the 21.12 restrictions come to force. You can check them here though, think UK is under section 3.2: raja.fi/en/guidelines-for-border-traffic-during-pandemic

Thank you @solina. Think it was the only logistics of getting a test booked, done and certified in time for departures tomorrow that prevented the Finnish borders from implementing it earlier than 21st.

And @countrygirl99, hope it works out for you as well

Antigen test tomorrow afternoon. Then I can face packing😁

I think if you take a test before travelling now you can potentially avoid being tested at the border. The border test, as far as I know, is free until the 21st but would mean queuing and not sure what happens if you test positive then, isolation I guess. It's required for those aged 12 and above.

For anyone who has been or is going to Lapland, who did you book through? Thanks

The first time we went, we booked through Magic of Lapland. They were absolutely fab. It was more expensive than some other operators but we wanted to make sure it was faultless and didn't want to feel like we were on a conveyor belt. Subsequently, we've been back to Finland several times in Feb half term just for skiing and general snow fun and always book with Inghams who have always looked after us really well.

@User135792468 we first went to Lapland for all the Lappish activities such as husky tours, reindeer sleigh, and snow mobile with Tui a few years ago. Absolutely brilliant, and have been skiing in Finland every year since with Crystal, which is part of Tui.
