I need inspiration to look for our next holiday. I always love hearing real-life recommendations as opposed to pictures and blurb online/ in brochures.

Israel!!! Before children.

This included hiring a car:
3 days in Tel Aviv during Christmas, we couch surfed
3 days in a kibbutz close to the Lebanese border
4 days in Jerusalem including New Year. The highlight was a trip to the Palestinian Territories.

As a teen with my mates, Lorette de mar. 2 weeks. 18/30 holiday. Brilliant.

Pre kids, Australia for 3 months with DH but we also did 2 weeks in California which is a close second.

With the kids Orlando. We’d inherited some money and spent it in Orlando doing Disney and Universal for 3 weeks, pretty much no expense spared.

Jordan just after the air strikes on Iraq. Had Petra entirely to ourselves (me and a mate). I'll never experience anything like that again.

Rajasthan tour by train, barely touched the surface but it's by far the only trip I still dream about.

It's been great hearing about all your difference experiences. It's a big world out there and I just love hearing about everyone's special trips. Scenery, company and vibe seem to be the most important criteria in making that memorable holiday. One of my best holidays was in the mountains on the French/ Swiss border during the summer. It was just beautiful and hardly anyone there. I love my holidays by the sea but the time spent exploring the mountains with the sound of streams flowing and cow bells ringing was just wonderful.
