Tips for surviving long-haul flights with babies, someone must have some...

I know there are a couple of threads about this already but the tips seem to be somewhat... paltry. Surely the combined might of MN can come up with some ways to get us halfway round the world and back, if not unscathed, at least somewhat less scathed?

Blu, according to my most recent conversation with BA(as we are flying again on 23rd) they no longer offer the Britax car seat.

yes I think the OP mentioned that at the start.

The holey sheet is to cover the bassinet to keep some light out. I did it with a sarong originally but was told I couldn't completely cover the bassinet. I thought being a light cotton fabric tied on in a tent-like fashion would be OK then there would be space and air.

huh, okay, thanks for that foxy. will try.

I've done a fair bit of travelling with my LO since she was born and I got a bit stressed on 2 flights when we was fast asleep at take-off and landing and I couldn't wake her to feed her. However she had her dummy in and I just tapped it every now and then which made her suck on it and that seemed to work just fine. Her ears gave her no problems at all.

Oh meant to say that Air NZ's policy on bassinet's is bloody ridiculous. Only thing to do is aim to get there when the counters open for your flight (could be 3 hours beforehand) and make sure you tell them you are breastfeeding and need those bulkhead seats as it is impossible to breastfeed with someone reclining in their seat in front of you. They often put tall people in the bulkhead seats as well (my husband is 6 foot 8 and we often ended up there before bean came along) so if they put someone like that before you kick up an unholy stink!!! GOOD LUCK
