We randomly booked Copenhagen for dhs birthday for February half term.
I haven’t been in years (ex cabin crew). We know it’s going to cold, but that doesn’t stop us.
Any must see things? We’ll be centrally located.

If you have kids, experimentarium is a fabulous science museum that will keep them busy for hours. All in English too.

Tivoli gardens. Pure magic, and the inspiration for Disneyland. The harbour - Nyhavn - is very picturesque.

I was looking at going in February half term. Just to let you know, my research showed that Tivoli isn't open in February in case that was something you wanted to see.

Longdistance · 13/11/2021 09:36

Yes, we know Tivoli is not open. But, I’m sure there’s more to do. Flights were cheap that week from Gatwick with EasyJet.

Sorry, I clearly shouldn't have recommended Tivoli.

If you plan to do a lot of sightseeing and visit a lot of attractions then I highly recommend you get the Copenhagen Card.
Definitely take a canal tour. Most include stops at the main sights, including the opera house, Christiansborg Palace and the Little Mermaid. They’re free with the Copenhagen Card.
I’d also recommend dropping in to Christiana just to experience it, but I wouldn’t stay long. There are some rules that you should also follow, such as not taking photos. Look out for the list of 'do's and don'ts' at the entrance.
The Church of Our Saviour has the best views of Copenhagen if you ask me, but don’t do it if you’re afraid of heights!
Louisiana museum is a little gem tucked away north of Copenhagen by the seaside, so it’s a perfect place to spend an afternoon after a morning at Kronburg Castle.
You’ve got to eat smørrebrød at least once while you’re in Copenhagen and one of the most popular spots is Aamann’s Deli.
Copenhagen has a city bike hire scheme called Bycyklen, with hire for 12 DKK per 20 minutes. Each bike has a built in GPS tablet marking places of interest. You can create an account in advance on their website or using the tablet.

We went to the Carlsberg brewery. It has a museum and you could go down to the stables too. DH really enjoyed it but I did too.

I was going to say the ship but it might not be available. There was a ship in Tivoli gardens which is a restaurant. We had the most amazing meal there on our anniversary. It was years ago so might not be there now. We stayed at Nyhavn and agree lovely area, good for photos. We had a tour of the city which was good.
Hope you have a lovely time.

Forgot to mention Torvehallern for food and Den Bla Planet. The latter is the best aquarium I’ve been to. We could have spent all day there.

Longdistance · 13/11/2021 09:58

@WeWantTheFinestWines don’t worry, all suggestions are welcome Smile

Just told Dh about the Carlsberg brewery, he was very pleased 😂
I’m going to write all your suggestions down. We’re there for four days so will squeeze in loads.

I live in Copenhagen and really recommend exploring Nørrebro, my local neighbourhood. Take a stroll across Assistens churchyard (Hans Christian Andersen, philosopher Søren Kirkegaard and many other interesting graves) and explore Jægersborggade for nice coffee, restaurants and interesting small and cozy shops. A lot of great museums too - the National Museum and the Museum of Copenhagen (Københavns Museum) in the city center are both really interesting.

Copenhagen card is great. We ended up going to a lot of places that we might have skipped, but as entrance was included we thought we'd give them a go.

ShinyHappyPoster · 14/11/2021 20:21

We did a private canal tour with Hey Captain! it was great. I'd definitely recommend it.
