I am literally having nightmares about flying to the UK

Light-hearted but true Grin I haven't been back for two years but have booked flights for Christmas. Last night I dreamt that my handbag got confiscated at security as it was made in a country 'that had zika' then a guy at the gate wouldn't let me on the flight because my covid certificate was an EU one and the UK wouldn't accept it.
I shouted at the guy, told him he had small man syndrome and then I got arrested Grin

Seriously though, does anyone else have anxiety about travelling after all this time?

I did fly in September but it was from an EU country to a neighbouring one and quite straightforward Smile

I don't generally fly more than once every couple of years, so I don't think I'd feel any different about it than before the pandemic tbh!

It's strange @lazylinguist I think since Brexit. September was the first time I travelled using my new blue British passport and the officer at the passport desk (leaving) was intimidating despite me producing my residency papers; he didn't have the same attitude to the rest of my group who were using their red UK/EU passports.

Erm what?
Flying is no different except you need paperwork as well as a passport. Passport control see every sort of passport going from every sort of passenger.

I dream of holidays not the airport..

No, it's anxiety about getting to the UK which is manifesting itself in my dreams. I haven't seen my elderly parents for two years, my dad is recovering from a recent operation and I'm desperate to see him.

Brexit has massively changed things where I live (quite rightly, and for the better) but Brits who have residency here are facing hostility when they return to the country (passports being stamped) .

So is the problem not with the hostile people? I can never understand the whole 'oh how awful the Brits are' when as you're saying the hostility is on your return to the country you're living in.

I don't think having your passport stamped is a sign of hostility, is it? We had ours stamped at Malaga Airport and the chap was very polite.

Sorry I haven't explained it very well. I'm British but living in an EU country, I've lived here for 17 years and have residency (ie legal papers). If I leave this country, as a British passport holder I have to provide evidence when coming back that I live here, this means showing my documents. My passport should not be stamped with a three month visa - this hasn't happened to me but has to several people I know who are residents here.
