Has anyone managed to find travel insurance which covers cancellation/curtailment due to lockdown either in the UK or the country you're visiting?

I think (hope) Post Office does.

Doesn't look like it does sadly.

As in what's not covered!

In those circumstances, if you've booked a package then the holiday company has to refund you within 14 days of the cancellation by law as your holiday cannot go ahead, or if you're overseas and restrictions are brought in, they have to get you home.

Post Office does not cover for government restrictions.

I was thinking of booking flights and accommodation separately. I guess if it happens before I go then I'd just change my flight (but might not be able to get money back on the accommodation). Thinking more about what would happen if it was announced while I was over there.

Standard exclusion as this is now considered a foreseeable event. So book a package or many hotels will allow you to rearrange/give a voucher due to lockdown if not actually cancel

If you book flights and hotel separately, and you're overseas when new restrictions are imposed there (or here eg country going on red list) you're on your own with trying to make your way back.

If you are booking your flight separately check all the terms and conditions. As if the flight is still operating, and you choose not to use it, you might just lose it altogether ie the cost to change it is the same as a new flight. Just because a destination has restrictions doesn't automatically mean a flight is cancelled.

Battleface

It's not cheap though

I don't believe UK will move to Australian style model where they lock their own citizens out at border. What scenario did you mean to protect against OP -- where all tourist attractions close down & you want to come home early due to nothing to do? I'm wondering what you've thought of that i didn't think of.

Which? have looked at this. Only HSBC and the barclays travel.pack. for both you need an account with them.
