Holidays
Anyone been to germany recently?
Subeccoo · 23/10/2021 07:02
And being double vaccinated, that means we're good to go there with no isolating right?
EileenGC · 23/10/2021 07:04
Affirmative, you will just need to do the locator form and upload your vaccine certificate at the end.
Subeccoo · 23/10/2021 07:06
From the UK this, thank you, that's what I thought but the forms are confusing me
hanahsaunt · 23/10/2021 07:14
Yes but make sure that you can access your Covid vaccine certificate for all indoor activities (other than shopping). A printed copy is invaluable if your phone battery dies...
Subeccoo · 23/10/2021 07:17
Already done that, printed and packed!!
I'm trying to order a day 2 lateral flow test at the moment, that's not going well.
I've got about a million at home but that's not good enough right?
FatLadySang · 23/10/2021 08:47
Yes, you can’t use the nhs free ones. You have to pay to have a code for the locator form on your way back to the UK.
Flyflyfly · 28/10/2021 11:17
Do you still need a negative PCR? Or can you just turn up with your covid double vaccinated nhs app proof?
Subeccoo · 28/10/2021 12:24
No pcr needed, just the vaccination proof and the passenger locator form. I'm currently drinking coffee in Berlin 😎😎
Flyflyfly · 28/10/2021 13:31
Ah that’s brilliant! I’m flying out next Saturday after three times of trying so need to make sure that I get everything a ok right….
Subeccoo · 28/10/2021 13:47
The only thing I didn't read was that face masks should be the FFP2 grade ones, everyone wears them, you don't see anyone in fabric.
BertieBotts · 28/10/2021 13:52
Yes, FFP2 or equivalent, or disposable (They call these OP-masken aka surgical).
BertieBotts · 28/10/2021 13:53
They disallowed the fabric ones just as I'd got a routine established
hanahsaunt · 28/10/2021 14:00
I had disposable surgical masks for the aeroplane and airport but otherwise used fabric masks and no one batted an eyelid.
Subeccoo · 28/10/2021 14:22
No one said anything I've just noticed no one wears fabric. I've been all over Berlin the last few days, they're all the FFP2 or our blue disposable ones.
BertieBotts · 28/10/2021 15:17
Here (Baden-Wurttemburg) there are signs everywhere stating FFP2 or OP-mask only. I have seen the occasional person wearing fabric and nobody actually challenges them though. I think it's just very German in that a rule has been passed, so we must stick to it! :o

When I last looked travelling to Germany with unvaccinated teens is impossible. Is tgg he at still the case?
BertieBotts · 28/10/2021 15:30
I think the teens in question need to quarantine for 5 days if you choose to do that. So not impossible but likely pointless if you're travelling for a holiday.
reluctantbrit · 28/10/2021 16:54
@BertieBotts
Yes unfortunately that's the case. They also don't see the teen "just give them one jab" policy our government has as fully vaccinated.
Hence us cancelling our February half-term holiday to see the grandparents very soon.
MsTSwift · 29/10/2021 06:11
So tricky with teens too old to be under 12 exempted yet too young to be double jabbed. Had a right faff getting them to Spain paying for tests then flying before test expiry but at least once that’s done you are free unlike Germany.
hanahsaunt · 29/10/2021 09:21
U12s are not exempted. They can enter with a fully vaccinated adult but have to quarantine for five days from arrival. It's really scuppered our plans to take ds1's younger siblings to visit him at university in Germany in December. We can get the 14yo in on his Irish passport as an EU citizen who has recovered from Covid but not the 11yo.
BertieBotts · 29/10/2021 13:08
In Germany the teens are being double jabbed! That's why there's no exception.
reluctantbrit · 29/10/2021 14:56
@BertieBotts
yep, as in France which meant holidays are out as well. We can go in but can't go anywhere.
Same as Austria, Czech Republik and most other countries we looked for Easter.
I really do hope these bunch of idiots will do a second jab for teens.
