All inclusive with 15 year old

I am looking at holidays for next summer.

I have a DS will be 15 by the time we go.

We haven't been on holiday in a few years so looking for something that will work for both of us.

The last couple of holidays we went on there were only a few english speaking children and so struggled to make "holiday " friends.

Any great suggestions of hotels they have been too.

If you want lots of English speaking guest and kids clubs then First Choice Holiday Villages might be for you. My teen would rather chew her arm off than attend a kids or teen club though so I can't recommend any personally.

BellsaRinging · 17/10/2021 08:56

I don't know your budget but we usually (finances allowing) go with Neilson. They have lots of sports tuition included which a 15 year old would be able to access and in addition have teens clubs which at that age are really driven by the kids-they sometime just hang out sometimes swim, sail etc. They have a rep who is really just a facilitator and makes sure they aren't doing idiot stuff which will get them into trouble. Last time we went we had ds15 at the time and he made friends and hung out mainly at the pool but also went out for a meal with them. He did a (free) sailing course with us as well.

TwoBlueFish · 17/10/2021 10:48

Does he have a friend from school that you’d be able to invite along?

Laaaaa · 17/10/2021 10:49

I stayed at an aqua park in Morocco which was awesome! Marrakesh at night and amazing water slide all day! Cheap too

just had a quick look at this .. looks stunning .. a little bit nervous to look at the price.

I have just been looking at holiday villages on tui and they look lovely but read the reviews and say not much for teens..

We haven't been abroad for a few years...so want this one to be special.. i would say up to £3k budget but would prefer closer to £2k.. thats for aand adult and child.

I really don't want the responsibility of someone elses child abroad if i am honest.

Cruise with a kids club

Starlightstarbright1 · 18/10/2021 12:45

i have never fancined a cruise.. i know people who love them but never appealed

motheroftwoboys · 20/10/2021 14:20

Cruises were our boys absolute fav when they were that age. Ours too now although they never appealed till I tried one. We also all enjoyed Mark Warner holidays as they included a huge amount of watersports.

ChristopherTracy · 20/10/2021 16:05

My DS loves an all inclusive but hates other people so we dont pick in terms of english speaking holiday friends. His main criteria seems to be a good pool and a swim up bar. Mexico AIs have been successful.

Oh wow I want to go there!

Remmy123 · 21/10/2021 09:50

Holiday villages have football pitches that the boys tend to hang around in and play football, meet friends that way, apart from that not much else so I don't recommend those.

trumpisagit · 21/10/2021 12:50

Would your teen want to make friends on holiday?
Mine wouldn't but if yours is sociable, it sounds great.
Could you go with a like-minded friend /a similar family so they have ready-made friendships?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 21/10/2021 13:10

Is there a particular reason you want an AI? I loved them when kids were young but once they reached teen years it didn’t really work anymore. They didn’t want to ‘make friends’ so just stayed on phones. Because AI food is ready to serve, meals were very quick and boring - not like going out for dinner. The problem was completely solved with a friend and Villa, they can do what they fancy during day and they are better behaved as a rule as well. We had drinks and dinner out in the evening altogether and it was great. Cala D’or in Majorca is great location because it’s compact but has everything you need for easy holiday. Once you get there, no one needs a car.

ChristopherTracy · 21/10/2021 17:26

I dont agree about the meals in an AI being boring - DS loves the fact that you can book the a la carte restaurants and go sushi one night, italian the next etc. Plus they eat you out of house and home so from that point of view its great.

bluebellsparkles · 24/10/2021 16:28

Just back from AI with 14 year old, it's absolutely his first choice for a holiday. Holiday Villages a bit young for teenagers

Campervan69 · 24/10/2021 17:28

We are at an AI in Cala D'Or at the moment with 2 of my sons ages 9 and 16. Having an amazing time. Never done AI before can't believe how cheap and easy it is. No shopping, cooking, cleaning, waiting or paying. Boys can eat when they want and as much as they want. We also have a car so we can explore the island.

Campervan69 · 24/10/2021 17:56

That Olympia hotel looks lovely but is the transfer time really 155 minutes from the airport?

rookiemere · 24/10/2021 18:38

This is a great thread. I am looking at Neilsons but it looks like the kids clubs only run up to age 13 - is there anything specifically for the older than that age group, or do they do activities with the adults ?

ChickenSchnitzel · 24/10/2021 21:08

Which hotel are you at, if you don't mind saying. Looking at AI just now.

We are here. Was amazingly good value. We have a ground floor apartment with a little garden. The food has been very good, lots of fresh salad and fruit available. Everything is very clean.

Keepthechangefilthyanimal · 26/10/2021 22:21

I’d suggest a cruise too or look at club manic life via TUI holidays. They do excellent activities for teens.

BellsaRinging · 27/10/2021 07:54

@rookiemere know this is a bit late but Neilson clubs go up to age 17. In fact ds17 is in one now. They get more deconstructed and tend to be more led by what the young people want to do but they have a member of staff with them. Also, once they are 14 they can also join the main activities, so should ds be able to bear my company I will see him for a group tennis lesson or sailing and he will then drop back into the teen club later.

rookiemere · 27/10/2021 09:17

Thanks @BellsaRinging definitely will look for next year at Neilsons then. We've just had a great holiday away with DSs friend and their family but it would be nice to just be us, but for DS to have people his own age to hang out with.

Okbutnotgreat · 27/10/2021 09:32

AI are great for teens as they can get food/drinks whenever they want to and just hang out. The clubs can be a bit hit and miss and it depends very much on the individual. We loved the freedom of the villa but as far as my teens are concerned the AI aspect wins every time.
