Germany - not currently possible with 12-18 yr olds - is that correct?

We've started planning a trip to Germany and would love to go this December if possible. But reading the rules it looks like it won't be possible for DD2 (14) even once she's had the 1 jab she'll be offered at school in November? Is that right? DH, DD1 and I are all fully vaccinated.

Actually now I'm feeling a bit more hopeful - DH and the DDs are EU citizens (Dual UK/Irish) so maybe DD2 will be allowed?

Also possible if you have had Covid and recovered in the last 180 days (with a Covid recovery document) and one vaccine.

Don’t know if that helps at all?

Thanks @QueenofLouisiana. Actually the way things are going at school it's very likely she'll have had it and recovered by December!

TBH we’ve looked at more holidays in the last 3 days than we have in the last 18 months. We’ve all had Covid in the last 2weeks and have all had vaccines: DS one, us two. So places like Germany and I think Belgium look possible for Christmas.

I dunno my friend is anti vac and has travelled over to family in Germany 4 times since covid started. She is not a German citizen but is EU.

That's interesting @Muttly - is your friend resident in the UK?

DH and the dc are dual uk/German citizens.
My understanding is that because we live in The UK we are all treated the same for travelling. It’s where you are from rather than your nationality

At the moment it’s not so simple as you need to be able to prove in a recognised format that you’ve had covid and recovered and had one jab - and currently NHS app doesn’t allow you to do that. Policy here is double vaccinated. NHS app also provides nothing yet for under 16s.

Thanks all - this is definitely more of a minefield than the "travel is back on" headlines would have us believe!

We’re in the same boat. We’re hoping to do a Christmas market road trip but I can’t see how at the moment. Teenager has had CoViD so allowed in some places in theory but I don’t know how this would be evidenced.

My NHS (travel) section is now showing QR codes for two vaccines and a recovery from Covid section.
I’m guessing DS would show up with one jab and a recovery.

The NHS app is currently for 16+ for travel. Hopefully that will be widened in due course.

“ Who can get a digital NHS COVID Pass

If you're aged 16 or over, you can get a digital NHS COVID Pass for travel. People under 16 may need to show a negative test result. Check the entry requirements for the country you're visiting.”
