If so, where are you going? I’m hoping to visit California early December

I'm due to be travelling to Las Vegas on the 20th of November. It should have been last November but moved the dates to this November.
I have mixed feelings about going,I'm so excited as I love Vegas and looking forward to seeing my friends who live there but I'm also worried about the rules changing whilst I'm away!
It's been booked for over 2 years,I wouldn't have booked otherwise as the cost has pretty much tripled compared to what I paid! Hopefully things will go ahead and we all enjoy our holidays!

Admissions to US are a federal matter, but quarantine rules vary by state.

Who is going to be policing the state border and checking your passport? No one. All UK visitors have to worry about are the federal rules for entry, which will be policed by the airline and border control. Don't worry about variations between individual states.

We've got Orlando booked in January 🥰

Most states have now dropped travel restrictions. But a handful still have Covid-19 restrictions and at least one has specific testing requirements. It doesn't hurt to look up the rules for the state you are visiting in advance so you're aware of potential fines, quarantine, etc., even if your general approach is to ignore the rules.

This year was my 60th and our 10th anniversary and we had planned to go to Hawaii which, of course, didn't happen.
Hoping to book for this time next year but just researching at the moment. Would like to book by our anniversary in December

zafferana · 08/10/2021 11:05

I can assure you @FlyBlackbirdFly my approach is not to 'ignore the rules', but as a US citizen who spent three weeks in the country this summer I can assure you that once you are in the USA no one is going to start questioning where you're from and whether you're quarantining after crossing a state line!

FlyBlackbirdFly · 08/10/2021 13:08

@zafferana Unless you go to somewhere like Hawaii? Where even hotels are monitoring your movements?

@zafferana (You must be from the Mainland...) Wink

zafferana · 08/10/2021 13:15

Hawaii requires all visitors to be fully vaccinated and, moreover, they're asking all tourists to rethink their travel plans and not visit the islands at present, while they cope with a surge in Covid cases.

I suspect that the reopening of the USA to overseas visitors will be contingent upon them being fully vaccinated. If this is the case, you won't even be allowed to board a flight to the USA without proof of full vaccination and therefore the point about Hawaii is moot.

Booked NY for early December. Since booking 2 weeks ago, same trip has gone up massively in price 😆

We have Florida booked in DEcember. Fairly confident that if the borders are open that will be alright - they are quite keen for us to return.

I can see why other states wouldnt be though which is the delay. You have those places like New York/Florida for whom the benefits outrank the negatives.

But that is not true for all - Hawaii has done very well so far

Florida booked for December!

Hallo! Shamelessly going to try and revive this chat!
We had booked to go skiing in France but have just watched the borders close to Uk. We have kids 8,6,10.
Poor husband hasn’t had a holiday for 18m and has been working in hospital. So looking v last min to ski in USA as someone we know MAY have a timeshare accommodation option. What airports are good to fly into ? Is Canadá or USA more fun/ more affordable/ more family friendly?
Any tips v gratefully received.
Thanks! Xx
