Bloody jet2

Have changed our flight number and extended the flight time so it's now Gona take like 6 hours to get to Spain 😫
I rang them and some young lad told me I need to do/edit our passenger locator form as we now have a new flight number. I've gone on there and it doesn't even show my original flight number only the seat numbers ! Am I meant to do a new form ?? Any help please if anyone's had this happen to them

How is it going to take 6 hours? Do you mean the flight time has changed? Surely they're not routing you via somewhere else?
Don't you just put the new flight number on the PLF where there currently isn't a number? Will your seats be the same number?
I'd maybe contact them again via Chat/Messenger/Twitter. (I did this with easyJet over the weekend and the Chat was way more useful than their phone people)
Good luck!

ImInStealthMode · 23/08/2021 18:19

It can't take 6 hours to get to Spain unless you're going elsewhere on the way?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 23/08/2021 18:21

Sorry it's going via Malaga, so going past Alicante to Malaga and then back to Alicante.

Regarding the form I've clicked the link where it says I can change the data on my qr but it doesn't show my original flight number anywhere, only seat number, which I gather will change too. We don't get our new boarding passes now u til check in at the airport. I didn't know whether I could just create a new form all together?

Can't contact jet2 until the morning now either

We've just flown back from Portugal with jet2. They are doing lots of their flights as double drops- for example ours dropped at Leeds then went onto Newcastle. This is apparently what they need to do to make their flights viable.
I get this has happened to you- google the new flight number to give you an idea where you will be dropping off.

Hoppinggreen · 23/08/2021 18:22

Unless you are stopping at a different airport to pick people up the flight can’t get longer

Swishswish26 · 23/08/2021 18:26

Jet2 are doing it all the time. Flights dropping off in Birmingham on the way back to Leeds Bradford or picking up in Alicante on the way to Malaga. All you get is a free drink for the inconvenience of landing two hours late though I do understand their predicament. It may be that you will have to fill in a new passenger locator form if you have a new flight number and seat number.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 23/08/2021 18:42

Honestly it's a joke I'm so annoyed, had nothing but stress doing the forms, buying tests etc and then they change it last minute leaving me with more to do. I get why financially they're doing it but jet2 couldn't even tell me 100% if I need to do a new passenger locator form.
I'm worried to start a brand new one in case it fucks my last one up somehow

OP posts:
whatagloriousthingtobe · 23/08/2021 18:43

It only shows my seat number on my existing form, no flight number anywhere 🤷🏼‍♀️

To be honest I wouldn't worry about the new passenger form for Spain. I deal with them all the time for work and you wouldn't believe the sheer number of people who put something wrong in them to no ill-effect!

To be honest I've no idea why they need the flight and seat numbers anyway, since they can collect this data directly from the airlines (and after travel, so the inevitable seat switches, no-shows etc are factored in).

Unfashionable · 23/08/2021 19:01

Jet2 have ‘combined’ flights to save on costs. Instead of sending an aircraft to Malaga and one to Alicante, both half-full, they are putting all the passengers on one flight and flying A-B-C-A.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s what airlines have to do to survive at the moment. Talk to them again or e-Mail them and ask for more clarification on what you need to do. Sometimes it takes time for the correct information to get fed through from the bosses who make the decisions to the people who answer the phones. Please be civil to the people you speak to. I can assure you that they have no idea if they will still have jobs by Christmas. Enjoy your holiday.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 23/08/2021 19:16

I'm always civil and polite to who I get through too, I understand they don't make the decisions. But I'm allowed to vent away from them about this situation as it isn't fair to change things last minute. I get it's my own fault as we booked a holiday during a pandemic and I'm kicking myself really now as it's just been nothing but stress.
Thanks for the info about the plf. I'll call them first thing and hopefully get some clarification.

EasyJet cancelled our flights last week. Just got an email. So booked with BA. But the flights are much much later in the day. Really pissed off.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 23/08/2021 19:49

@Oblomov21 did you have to create a new plf?

OP posts:
garlictwist · 24/08/2021 06:18

This happened to my brother. Their flight got moved to 6am from Leeds to Menorca. Then they had to take off and touch down in East Midlands and London as well, so the whole trip took 5 hours.

I think it's because they are running at reduced capacity so trying to maximise income.

Fair enough - but at least tell people that when they book!

whatagloriousthingtobe · 24/08/2021 07:02

@garlictwist yes exactly, let the customer decide if they're happy to do that. It's Gona be a looong flight

Coogee · 24/08/2021 08:20

These changes are usually very last minute, so that would be difficult in most cases.

The alternative is cancelling the flight completely, as has happened to some people. Personally, I’d rather get there late than not at all.

tiredteacher100 · 24/08/2021 09:14

This has just happened to us but there were only 38 people on our flight so it's not really viable to fly with that amount of people. We collected another 59 people from a different U.K. airport to make the numbers up. On the way back it was reversed so we were dropped off first, although take off was delayed to allow the other people to get to the airport so check your phone. Boarding passes are issued when they have seen all the extra Covid documentation, which they checked very carefully. Tbf, airlines have really struggled and I would rather this than an outright cancellation

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 24/08/2021 09:20

Oh god we are flying to Malaga with them in October, does that mean we're gonna have to go via Alicante? How bloody annoying.

Summersdreaming · 24/08/2021 09:25

We've just had this with Jet 2, I can understand why it's needed but bloody annoying! They didn't change the flight number though so can't help with the plf sorry.

BarbaraofSeville · 25/08/2021 07:47

I keep reading about Tui cancelling lots of flights to the Med over the next few weeks, even green list locations like Malta, presumably due to low bookings. The same for Easyjet.

Faced with the choice of doing the same, it seems that Jet2 have come up with an innovative solution, so fair play to them in difficult times. If the choice was cancellation, or the airline risking going out of business due to running at a loss for months on end or this, it's probably best to suck it up this time.

Maybe if they do ABCA on the way there and ACBA on the way back, individual passengers will only be inconvenienced once?
