Tasting baby food at Gatwick security

Hi, has anyone flown out of Gatwick recently and had to taste the pureed baby food you were taking on the flight? We're flying long haul to the US this week, and I just read on the BAA Gatwick website that even sealed baby food in plastic containers will have to be tasted. That's 10 separate containers for my twins! Do you know if they make you taste ALL of it or just one pot? And are they REALLY enforcing this??? Crazy. We fly on Sunday, so any quick info would really be appreciated. (Yep, we're a bit disorganised, since everyone caught a cold this week!)

Thanks in advance,
Nancy

We flew from Gatwick in October and yes I was made to unseal a 12 month+ glass jar - so quite solid food. If they decide you have to taste they will make you taste any containers over 100ml. I say, if, as a friend also flew from Gatwick in October and she was not made to taste. Good luck

Can you not just buy it airside?

We are flying from heathrow in 2 weeks' time. My son is 8 mths old and he's quite fussy about food. Do you think they would open all 4 jars of food? Wouldnt it go bad when opened and not refrigerated?

I travelled in the summer from Gatwick and had to taste everything, so yes, you can expect to taste 10 separate pots of food.
