Can all tests for holiday be done at home?

I need tests that we can do at home and not have to take to a "drop box" or store or similar as we seem to live 60 plus miles from the nearest places or clinics, and nowhere near an airport either!

We are going to Greece in two weeks so will need 2 x antigen or pcr for the teens and 4 antigen we can take with us to do in resort before we fly back, plus the day 2 pcr for four of us!

(I think I've got that right DH and I both double jabbed, kids under 18)

Has anyone else done it this way, and can you just upload the result or do you have to send the tests away? There doesn't seem much time to do that!

Any advice gratefully received

We had 4 kits from c19. They arrived the next day after ordering and were very clear BUT 2of the tests didn't work which means we had to make an emergency trip to our airport testing centre. Expensive and annoying

You can do tests which just go in a post box?? Look at expert medical

EileenGC · 13/08/2021 06:30

I’ve used NWP which you post with Royal Mail, you just need to find a priority postbox in your area. Not very expensive either, £40 for a day 2 test (or a fit to fly). They extremely efficient and I had the results back within 26 hours of putting the test in the postbox.

@silkience We’re flying tomorrow at 1.30pm.

I haven’t even ordered the return PCR tests but yes less stressed about those as just need a code for PLF on return. Will order the cheapest I can find today.

Delatron · 13/08/2021 07:02

@Styletryle it’s C:19 you upload the photo of. Really easy.

Delatron · 13/08/2021 07:03

@JayAlfredPrufrock
The PLF for going out I’ve done. Then PLF for return we’ll do the tests in our hotel room two days before leaving.

@Delatron have an amazing time

Ah thanks @silkience I don’t think I’ll relax until I’m through the airport on the other side! You have a great trip too.

Still a bit confused about the kits described as ‘fully vaccinated Amber country day 2’ kits. Can we use those for the kids?

By the way a good experience with express test for kids PCR fit to fly. Tested yesterday AM and had results 25 hours later. We used the Gatwick drive through to avoid postal worries. Nearly had a kitten when filling in the Spanish entry form though as noted one of the kids birth dates was wrong on the fit to fly (my fault got it wrong when booking - 3 kids is too many!!). Used express tests ‘contact us’ webform and had a revised certificate within the hour. Very impressed (& relieved).

Anyway can anyone advise on the day 2 for kids query as need to book those soon thanks.

I've bought the same for everyone - fully vaccinated adults and unvaccinated children. Can't see how they can't be okay?

@Delatron how was/is your holiday?

We are leaving for Crete this weekend, any tips gratefully received! I bought the c19tests (plus a spare) they came the next day, now awaiting our Tui chronomics tests to take in the luggage!

Very excited but don't think I will relax until we are in our hotel

Hey @silkience it’s been amazing. We’re heading home tomorrow!
C:19 have been great for our tests. Did DS 12 on the way out and just done home return ones today.

Arrival at Heraklion was very smooth (though I’m sure Chania good too). They just glanced at PLF. they didn’t test anyone on our flight which was a worry of ours.

I managed to finally relax once we arrived at the hotel!

Weather has been great. Not too hot actually and a welcome breeze each day. It’s been so worth all the stress. Have an amazing time!

silkience · 23/08/2021 12:49

That sounds amazing, thanks so much for replying! I'm just itching to go now, we are also flying into Heraklion, I don't think I will completely relax until I get to the hotel either! I may have to drink on the plane (even though flight is 7am 😂😂)

@silkience I had a celebratory glass at the airport!

So pleased to help! It’s an admin minefield. But it’s worth it when you get here. Enjoy beautiful Crete!

Taking notes re antigens and PCR

Faevern · 27/08/2021 20:20

We just flew back from Amber country used C19 for the 72 hour antigen tests while away. Cheap at £29 per test, no video just photo of the result with passport uploaded on to registration, all results with certificate within 5 hours. We used Randox for day 2, also cheap, dropped off at a clinic rather than drop box, confirmation email received and then all results emailed within 24 hours of drop off. Used those for adults and children. I was a bit concerned after reading Randox reviews but it went very smoothly.

Faevern · 27/08/2021 20:22

Just to clarify it was a home test, the tests were collected from the clinic not processed there.
