Flying Virgin on Monday wont get result back till midnight Sunday night (24 hour one) wont be able to print certificate as staying in hotel - will proof of neg pcr on mobile be acceptable?

Im hoping hotel will print out for me first thing Monday morning OR in Heathrow would there be someone to do this for me??

Take a screenshot of the pdf on the email they send you. Every airline will accept it.

Great idea will do.

Im sure hotel will print out for me or bound to be somewhere at airport or even Virgin desk, I just like everything to hand!!!!

My DD flew to the USA last week through 3 airports and no-one asked for or checked her PCR Travel Certificate.
Like a PP suggested she was advised to take a screenshot of the PDF of the certificate just in case there was no WiFi in the airport.

If they want it physically, they will print it for you at the desk. They’re helpful.

@borninastorm thank you - did she go from Heathrow? Im just hoping all is ok as DS never travelled before on his own and only 16.

Just noticed Los Angles where he is getting a connecting flight has constructions works - his connecting flight is 1hour 35mins after he lands so not sure if he will make it in time after getting bags, going through immigration then having to find his way to the Delta desk for his next flight etc. Im so nervous for him

You can have the Covid docs on your phone, they’re always OK checking that.

1h 35min for an LA connection (I imagine he’s connecting on to a domestic flight?) is very tight but doable. Does his London flight arrive at ‘peak international arrivals’ time? It will depend on that, on how many people are queuing at immigration at the same time as him. If he touches down even one minute late, he should say that at the airline desk when negotiating for a free rebooking, if he misses his flight. They’ll normally email or text the connecting gate/terminal when he lands, so he’ll have that as proof of any delays.

But he’ll be fine OP! I just wrote all that as extra suggestions in case something goes wrong.

She went from Gatwick to Dublin to Chicago to St Louis. It was an epic journey but she managed to get all her connected flights no problem and said that despite her flights being busy all the airports were much quieter than she expected.

LAX is a big airport so you DS might be cutting it fine to make the connection but it is doable. If he does miss it and it’s a domestic flight he’ll be put on the next available flight.

My DD has been travelling alone since she was 18, she’s 22 now and off to college in America. I’ve been so nervous every time and she’s always been good even when it’s not gone to plan.

If he does miss it and it’s a domestic flight he’ll be put on the next available flight.

This is not 100% guaranteed. If the person at the counter is decent then yes, but they don’t have to, unless the flight came in delayed.
I’ve argued this with many airlines over many years, and on US soil regulations aren’t the same. This is why I mentioned trying to use any minute’s delay you can find, in case they don’t book you on the next flight. Just trying to say to OP that it is a possibility.

It will of course be fine, I started travelling on my own at 15 as I left for uni and started work (in my industry you’re away 3-4 months total each calendar year), and it’s always fine, even if plan A doesn’t work out.

Ive checked with my contact at the other end and they have recommended he does the 3 hours top over to be on the safe side, puts my mind at rest and also gives him time to relax after an 11 hour flight from UK and to stretch his legs.

Construction work at LAX is still ongoing.

He will indeed need those three hours, if he can get more then this is good. It’s appalling frankly that he was booked on an internal US flight only 95 minutes after his initial flight from the UK arrives because he would never make that connection. It will likely take almost half that time to actually get to the arrival gate!.

After 2 hours holding on the phone I eventually spoke to an amazing staff member.

He calmed me down and was so lovely, made the change to connecting flight so his stopover is now 3 hours 20 mins rather tham 90mins!!!

I feel so relieved and will be even more once I know he's got there safe and sound next week. All a learning curve!!!
