Greek islands - should we go?

We've paid to go to a Greek island at the end of August. Now I'm worried that, despite being double vacc'ed, everyone on the plane will get tested on arrival and, if someone tests positive, we'll be asked to quarantine for our entire holiday. Can anyone shed any light on this/reassure me please???

Came back two weeks ago from a glorious fortnight in Kefalonia. No fires there right now. Wonderful place, all very relaxed.

Went recently for 3 weeks. Absolutely no problems, was random tested at the airport on arrival and had the results before we even got our cases!! Had a blissful 3 weeks, going back in a couple of weeks!!
We’ve been going to the Greek Islands for years and they do have wild fires quite often. The fire brigade are very experienced in dealing with them though and it’s never caused a problem xx

I think it’s only worth going of you can be relaxed and not stress about it. Which I’m finding difficult! It depends what type of person you are. It should be ok but there is more risk than normal of things going wrong I guess. My biggest stress is catching it over there and being shoved in a quarantine hotel.

We got back from Greece (one of the islands) on Friday. I had exactly the same concern about someone near us testing positive and us having to quarantine.

On arrival they were testing one person per PLF. I was the one chosen and it was a tense 10 minutes waiting for the result. All fine though.

We then had to get tested to return home of course and if I'm honest, that was the most stressful aspect of all. We felt that worry hanging over us all holiday.

Overall I don't regret going, I love Greece so much it would take a lot to keep me from visiting, but I do hope the situation is closer to normal by next year.

We are coming home at the weekend - DH and I were joking we were leaving at the right time as it drops to 29 then

Chania and Heraklion areas have v different temps, as well as v different Covid restrictions . There's curfew in Chania this week, nothing in Heraklion.

It's kind of like comparing Bournemouth and Anglesey. Crete is massive!!!

Ha yes @ArabellaPilkington we are more Heraklion side and I’m eyeing up the temps thinking ‘no cooler than 28 please’ I’m happiest with around 30! 35 gets a bit too much but I cope fine.

We’re in a quiet part so hoping no curfews but with kids we won’t be out partying anyway. I like to peak early!

I'm supposed to be off to Corfu next Friday and I'm very anxious about it all.

DH and I are double vaccinated but the DC are not. We've actually booked four fit to fly tests by accident so I'm wondering if should use them anyway.

Does anyone know if they still do a random test on you at the airport if you have a fit to fly? I hate doing the tests as I gag horribly.

Wish we'd not booked but DH and DS were so keen to go and it was such a bargain.

I think we will take lat flow tests with is and test throughout the week just to make me less anxious about the return flight tests.

Can anyone help with what the tests needed are for Greece? We are off to santorini in September but I'm confused by it all!

Depends whether you're double jabbed, if you have kids and how old they are etc

For us, 2 double jabbed adults plus 2 teens under 18 we did:

2 x antigen/professionally administered LFT fit to fly tests for DC 2 days before flight out
Printed out our Covid vaccination passes fir adults
Printed out Greek PLF with QR code

Way back
1- 2 days before all have antigen/prof administered LFT in resort
Book Day 2 PCR for all of us
Use ref no from PCR bookings to complete UK PLF

No kids and double jabbed!

As above then just minus the antigen test fit to fly beforehand

We just came back from zakynthos.

It was very, very hot though and I was glad I was only there a week as I was sick of being too hot.
On the last night there it was 29° at midnight.

DH and I are hopefully off to Corfu on the 29th. Can I just confirm that there are no pre departure tests required if we are double jabbed?
Also, how are you doing your antigen tests before returning to the UK ? Are you taking tests with you or are they easily available in local pharmacies?

Hi we are off to Corfu on Friday.

No need for pre departure tests if double jabbed but you may be selected for a random test when you get there.

We have ordered antigen tests to take with us ( you can't just use the NHS ones unfortunately ) but there are places in Corfu you can get them done for about €20 I think.

You will need to arrange day 2 arrival tests before you fly home as you need to put the order number on the passenger locator form before you can fly home.

Also worried about Fires. Those of you out there- is it okay now?
