could i visit it for just one day with my 5 and 3 year old
shes disney princess mad and he would be into buzz and the pirates, i think.

the idea of staying in those awful hotels is so annoying when we could stay in paris city and have a few days there with a bit of culture and then hike out to disney for the day?

I only went for one day, it was plenty! (for me anyway)
And Paris is a great place for kids ( I found)

Hulababy · 28/11/2007 22:04

Yes, you could do a fair bit of DLP in a day.

If doing one day only just go the the DLP park, not the studios. And head straight to Fantasyland which is where the main rides for children are. Get a fastpass for Buzz (in next land across) for later in the day, and then after that get a fast pass for pirates of the carribean.

corblimeycharlie · 28/11/2007 22:09

Do you mean would it be worth visiting for just one day or would you miss too much?

We have done just 1 day and it was fine but DD was only 3 then. If you are visiting in British or European school hols you may find a the queueing will take a fair chunk out of the day. Think really carefully about what rides you would want to go on and plan ruthlessly. You can get free fast passes for some rides (buzz light year is one and well worth a visit) and avoid others that are frankly rubbish but inexplicable have enormous queues (Dumbo, Pinocchio, Snow White) Start at the back of the park and work forwards. Really consider whether you want to go into the studio park next door as you can buy cheaper tickets that are for DLP only.
Bit random all that but borne from my hatred of queueing. HTH

you could do lots in a day.

Tbh though not sure how kids would feel about pirates - it's pretty dark with lots of shooting and loud noises etc. Dh bought a disney book before we went and it categorized the rides into suggested suitability and pirates wasn't recommended for children under 6. if only we'd read that bit before taking ds on it - he hated it.

Its a Small World will eat your day and your brain. Aviod at all costs.

wannaBe · 28/11/2007 22:14

lol.

but the little kids love it.

as does my mil .

corblimeycharlie · 28/11/2007 22:17

Can you imagine how thrilled I was when DD's last school production involved her having to learn and practise It's a Small World? That is why we had to go on it twice last time we visited DLP. [grimace emoticon]

NoBiggy · 28/11/2007 22:17

We had to do Small World 3 times I think!

With children that age, you need scarcely venture out Fantasyland.

Apparently Tuesday and Wednesday are quieter days (certainly very little queuing when we were there those days, but the weekend before sounds like it was hell).

bloody hell corblimeycharlie - I thought I had succesfully relegated that particular experience to the deepest parts of my mind. now it's buzzing round my head. thanks a bunch .

I would also avoid the Pirates of the Carribean - I found it stunningly hideous and offensive - and it would also be scarey for los. where the entertainment is in scenes of looting, pillage, torture and sexual slavery I have no idea.

don;t mean to put you off! the rest of it's pretty good fun. you can get the train from Paris right to the gate. the only thing you might want to factor in is the parades and the fireworks - when we were there in the summer there was a parade at about 6 or 6.30 which my 5 year old loved. then there was a later one at about 10pm which was pretty spectacular. and, much to my suprise, letting my 7 year old stay up later then ever before til the fireworks at 11 and then walking back to the hotel with her alongside the lake was lovely. never bought the creating memories stuff - but it was something rather lovely.

the hotels are a complete rip off so everyone feels fully justified in swiping enough from the breakfast buffet for lunch - the breakfast buffets are just about the only decent food going...

Hulababy · 29/11/2007 17:39

5yo DD enjoys the Pirate of the Carriabean ride. The dark doesn't bother her and she likes the Yo Ho Ho song.

We have been on Small World more times than I care to remember, lol
