New advice for traveller to have pcr instead of lateral flow when leaving Spain ?

Just that really advice from yesterday says from Sunday it’s advisable to have a pcr instead of lateral flow when returning to the Uk from Spain but why just advice ? Surely everyone would go with cheaper option? Makes sense as You have to do a 2 day PCR on return anyway even if you’re double jabbed so that would surely give conclusive result? And if you’re not vaccinated you have to isolate for 10 days ? Thoughts please

Yes it’s all confusing as usual our government never make it clear. Using the terms advisory and urging us to use a pcr test to return home instead of a lateral test. I’m in Spain at the moment and of course I’m going to be getting the cheaper option a lateral test.

I'm going to Mallorca on the 14th, unless they make a PCR a requirement I'll be taking a lLFT. I'm not paying extra for something that's 'advised'.

It's ludicrous to make it advisory not mandatory. Who on earth is going to pay more for it?
If BG genuinely concerned, make it a requirement- it's still a lot cheaper than a quarantine hotel or more manageable than 10 days isolation.

My lateral flow tests for the family have just arrived today for us to take. I will not be happy if the rules properly change as they've cost me £100 already. As it is my 2 sons are unable to have their second vaccinations + 14 days in time for the holiday, so it's costing about £500 in tests.
I wouldn't normally be going this year but it is a special family trip with all the in laws postponed from last year ...

British Airways seem to be insisting on a PCR even though it's not legally required Hmm

Hi we just returned from Spain, did a LFT test at Hotel, cost €30. To be honest, barely anyone glanced at our proof of a negative result!

Flew with Easyjet by the way.

Update on BA: they are apparently going to review their confusing policy for PCR tests to return from Spain. Good.

What happens if you test positive at the boarder prior to boarding the plane?

You follow whatever rules are in place in the country you are in.
