Ryanair hand luggage

Catbell82 · 04/08/2021 09:47

My daughter is asking for a wheeled bag to take on the plane with us. I can't find anything that fits in with Ryanair's very small hand luggage allowance (40cm x 25cm x 20cm). Just wondering it anyone has come across anything suitable?

thanks

You'd be better off with a backpack if it's that small

Their 1 item of free hand luggage is basically a handbag, I think even my laptop bag is a bit bigger in one dimension although I've taken it onboard with no issues.
Check the dimensions of these carefully www.amazon.co.uk/Ryanair-Cabin-Bags/s?k=Ryanair+Cabin+Bags&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

A wheeled bag that small, if it exists, will hold hardly anything because the wheels and handle mechanism will take up a lot of the space.

That's not the full hand luggage allowance, just what you get without charge and is more intended for a rucksack, handbag or holdall.

If you want a wheeled bag, you're probably better paying for the extra bag, which can be quite a bit larger, or a hold bag instead, which can then be full size, and take all your liquids too.

Ryanair mean handbag when they refer to the free carry on bag. It needs to fit underneath the seat. You have to pay, I think £23, to bring a small case that fits in the overhead locker onboard.

I very much doubt you'll find a wheeled bag of those dimensions

The new policy on hand luggage is to stop everyone taking a small wheeled suitcase (unless you upgrade)

A rucksack or tote bag would be more suitable

Thanks for the replies - I'll tell my daughter she can only take a backpack unless she's happy to put it in with the hold luggage

I don’t think they allow wheels on the under seat baggage.

Really they mean a handbag / small sports bag type

You can have a small wheeled suitcase with you in the overhead bins, but you have to pay. Your daughter wouldn’t have to fork out for the hold luggage; that’s way more than the 20ish the overhead bin luggage costs.

If it's not your main bag (with your clothes etc in), the best bag I find for the free bag is one of those roll up reusable bags. You can fit loads into them, and if they want to check the size you can squidge it into whatever shape you need to. Added bonus, then they weigh next to nothing.

If you paid for priority boarding you could take one of these: cabinmax.com/products/toronto-55x40x20cm-lightweight-spinner-cabin-case
Which fits perfectly. Otherwise their "small bag" the only wheeled option is this: cabinmax.com/products/narvik-stowaway-20l-cabin-trolley but I'd avoid as the wheels take up precious space.
