AIBU to book a holiday abroad?

Hi all,

I would like some impartial advice.

We bought a house in March and have made multiple upgrades (roof, flooring, lick of paint here and there) and we rescued a dog! In the past 18 months we have both had promotions in work and have taken very little time for ourselves.

It's been a very stressful year with both of us being key workers. We bring in around 3600 a month after tax, with our outgoings being around 1400 inc food etc (no children or car!)

We have around £5000 of savings left but we are desperate for a summer holiday. We've scrimped and saved for years and years. If we book, this will leave us with £4000.

What would you do in my position? I am so frugal, I am struggling with my decision!

Book one straight away!

Me and DH have just finished a bit house renovation. We’ve both wfh throughout the pandemic and we have a 2 year old.

We’ve booked an expensive holiday in September with our savings. Looking forward to it has been the only thing that’s kept us sane

Book it but don't expect it to be any less stress than you already have! I'm going on Friday and the hoops I've had to jump through are out of this world. And that's with the added stress of the traffic light changing whilst we are away, I say this to you as someone who's been a travel agent for 25 years
I'm glad I'm going , as travel is my life , but please don't think holidays this summer are stress free .
From a business perspective I'm only taking bookings for 2022 onwards

Go for it! We're off on holiday next week and I can't wait. Yes, there are hoops to jump through, but now we've committed to going and figured out what we need to do and when I feel quite relaxed and have started to look forward to it.

Do it! We've just come back from 10 days in Majorca AI. It was heaven! Spent all day in the pool or on the beach. All meals drinks etc taken care of. It was pure relaxation, switched off from the world.

Best thing was the holiday was so 'normal' like pre pandemic, mask wearing only indoors like hotel reception etc. All meals outdoors.

Yes you have to do tests etc but you just do what you have to do and then forget about it.
