First holiday just me and my kids - all inclusive?

I've only been on holidays with daughters with other adults (either their dad when we were together, or my mum), but I've just finished my degree and we all deserve a little break! so I'd like to take them away next Easter.

I overthink things and have anxiety, so I want to make it as easy as possible to take them away. I've never been on an all inclusive holiday, but I feel like that would be my best shot? Ideally I'd like the option of one or two trips out, but with a nice enough resort that if we don't make it outside, it will still be nice.

Can anyone recommend anywhere nice, or maybe correct me if I'm not on the right track?

I'm with you @BarbaraofSeville I've always found complexes like the one you linked to dead easy but I guess everyone is different. I'm also single but have no interest in chatting to randoms on holiday - holidays are for spending time with my kids! I never know quite what to do with myself in a resort hotel anyway, they're just weird places and I hate entertainment/anything organised really - it all feels institutionalised. A nice wee safe maintained complex with a spar at the end of the road, pools and beach ditto and plenty of restaurants nearby is ideal for me. But I know loads of people who are happy with resort hotels, and it sounds like OP would be too.

Yes to what @Babdoc said.

Plus when you’re on your own you can’t just pop out to the shop - everyone has to come with you!

I’d do a hotel @BacktoB. I went to a nice hotel in Lanzarote for my first ever break alone with kids. I did half board, the beach was next to it so no need for major “getting ready” operations to go there. A terrace which I lay on at night listening to the sea. It was lovely. AI might be a good option too. Enjoy!

Babdoc whilst I have a husband, work restrictions meant I did lots of holidays as the only adult. I would, as stated above, always have chosen self catering.
It worked for me and my kids, which is why I mentioned it as a suggestion. I'm glad you've found a holiday that works for you and your kids. Hopefully with all the suggestions about why things have worked, rather than dismissing others experiences, the OP with finds a holiday style that works for her.

I think all inclusive would be an excellent option if you want to relax and are anxious and have no-one else to help.

You can choose how many rooms you have - we always had a separate room for us but when the weather is warm a lot of the time is spent outside anyway. It's great to have somewhere with lots of activities on site and all the work done for you. If you want an easy day trip out there are normally tours as well.

We've always had AIs where there is food all day and restaurant service is often included - it is worth reading tripadviser reviews of food to check. If they like waterparks we've found the First Choice/TUI Splashworld range good. We went to Magic Natura and that has a lovely waterpark on site and a wildlife park. Also went to one in Menorca which again was good. Though if you want to be out swimming check the temperatures as some places in Europe can be quite borderline for it at Easter.

My kids much prefer AI, we've done both and its the AI they both ask for as they love having all the activities on site plus food they both eat. Another option is sometimes you can get apartments in resorts where you can access facilities and meals and you buy meals as you use them. We did that in Maderia staying at PortoBay and that was nice. We always go out every day or every other day when in AI and just eat breakfast and evening meal and its almost always cheaper than half board.

I would aim for somewhere with lots of activities on site like pools, waterslides, kayaking, beach and beach volleyball if you enjoy those type of things.

Hi BacktoB did you make any decisions about your holiday? I've been following this thread as a single parent and I am looking for inspiration for an all inclusive in Easter or summer 2022.
