Due to holiday on Greek Island in 2 weeks. Really anxiety inducing, anyone in the area boat or can offer reassurance?

I’ve got the photo tests @PlumpCushion 👍 and a load of spare NHS ones too so we can do some tests a few days before the real one to avoid any shocks. (and maybe arrange a different quarantine situation!) it’s a great idea. One less thing for me to stress about. (Stress levels are high right now)

brizzlewizzle · 08/08/2021 20:30

Anyone have any experience of testing positive before returning to the U.K.? What are the rules? Can we isolate in an Airbnb rather than a quarantine hotel? This is my biggest concern about going

FizzyPink · 08/08/2021 20:35

@brizzlewizzle all of the videos online I’ve seen where this has happened, they have all been taken to a quarantine hotel which is at the Greek governments expense. However I think they were all in hotels originally so it may be different if you are in an AirBnB. This link says you may stay in your current accommodation or may be moved to a quarantine hotel www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/greece/coronavirus

Delatron · 08/08/2021 20:38

When doing the antigen test going out (for DS12) within the 48 hour window. Is that arrival time in Greece and then factor in time difference?
We arrive 8pm Greek time. So from 6pm 2 days before?

GrealishHairband · 08/08/2021 20:54

Thanks @ArabellaPilkington we’ll have to make the best of it and hope it’s just a bunch of moaning minnies on TA. We were expecting some differences this year I think it’s all just been a bit fraught with DD having Covid and I’m just feeling all a bit aaaarggghhh about it all.

Doesn’t help that DD turns 18 the day after we get back so I’m trying to plan her birthday stuff as well.

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 08/08/2021 22:04

We're in Corfu at the moment - it's hot - no real sign of COVID - have our tests tomorrow so are hoping for the best!

Wizzbangfizz · 08/08/2021 22:14

I didn't think you needed to do any tests before going out for kids? Is that not the case?

Delatron · 08/08/2021 22:18

Just test for over 12s

Wizzbangfizz · 08/08/2021 23:04

Thanks @Delatron that is good to know

Movinghouseatlast · 08/08/2021 23:10

That link does not say you can quarentine in an 'Air BnB'. They send an ambulance to take you to quarentine hotel.

PlumpCushion · 09/08/2021 05:43

@Movinghouseatlast link says you may be able to isolate in your current accommodation depending on circumstances. I read an article stating that Greece has insufficient quarantine hotel beds hence the change. They can only send an ambulance for you if you tell them! I’m just saying that there are creative solutions to this problem (whilst still keeping others safe).

towdenbursgi · 09/08/2021 09:23

Can anyone update me on the best (cheapest) testing packages which need to be done in Greece prior to return to UK and also the day 2 test when back in UK? Also the pcr or whatever it is for a 14 year old unvaxxed prior to departure from UK? Thanks!

Movinghouseatlast · 09/08/2021 09:28

Well, that's what I read several times.

Only 4 and 5 star hotels licenced for the purpose can be used and only if that was the place you were on holiday. So not an Air BnB.

You don't tell them, the test provider tells them.

Believe me I would love it to be the case that you could quarentine where you were, I wouldn't be so scared of it if I could stay in my villa in the middle of nowhere. It is not how it works though. Have a read on trip adviser.

Delatron · 09/08/2021 09:35

I think the query is. You take some of your own lateral flow tests to do before the fit to fly one. If you test positive on one of these could you arrange a private accommodation (whilst keeping away from everyone/isolating). Then you do your official one (which with C:19 is a photo of the result) they don’t issue the fit to fly as test is positive. Would you then be moved to a quarantine hotel or could you stay in private accommodation. Obviously only if none of this process puts anyone at risk. It’s a bit of a long shot to be fair. I still think testing whilst away is a good idea to prepare you for any shocks/ get insurance in place etc.

Delatron · 09/08/2021 09:37

Maybe they do frog march you to a quarantine hotel to keep an eye on you. You could easily not stay put in private accommodation I guess.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 09/08/2021 10:09

@Twobigsapphires
Sorry for the delay
Only just noticed this

It is called passandroid
I think apple do a similar one

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 09/08/2021 10:10

Sorry tagged the wrong person...

@magsbagsfags

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 09/08/2021 10:16

@GrealishHairband
I'm glad you're all testing negative.

I would honestly take the reviews with a pinch of salt. It is what you make of it and for me just relaxing around the pool/beach is just what the dr ordered.
Are you going all inclusive?

The day after we arrived Zante went into a local curfew.
No music/bars shut at midnight.
It was a little disappointing but we are still having a lovely time.
It is nice as other than popping a mask on to go into a shop you don't really hear covid as much as you do at home.
Which has honestly done my mind a world of good.

It is bloody hot though!

rufus77 · 09/08/2021 11:09

Hi All, I wonder if anyone can help me as im stressing out. We are due to go to Rhodes next Monday (16th) My husband and 2 boys have all had covid in the last month, all recovered and negative LFTs. I seemed to have avoided it but started with symptoms last Sunday, tested positive with a faint line on LFT on Wednesday. They stayed faint until Saturday then blazing positive and still the same now. I finish isolating on Wednesday and just have the remnants of symptoms which feel like a mild cold. I am totally panicking that I will still have a positive lateral flow by next Monday (I am double vaxxed) and obviously dont want to get caught out by the random airport testing.

For those who were in a similar situation, when did your LFTs go negative? I have told my husband if they are still positive on Sunday they should just go without me and I will maybe join them after a couple of days. I cant believe we have managed to avoid it for all of this time and then when we actually have things in that have been booked for an age, we get struck down. We already had to cancel one break when they all got it. Sad

PlumpCushion · 09/08/2021 11:12

@Movinghouseatlast but how would the authorities even know if you use a version of the test whereby you upload the test result photo?? We took the test. Then waited for the result. Then uploaded it. There is no way that the ‘authorities’ would know the result unless I chose to tell them it! The company ( Chronomics) don’t even know you’re taking the test until you decide to register it.

PlumpCushion · 09/08/2021 11:17

@Delatronthry even say on official Greek website that you can isolate in accommodation depending on circumstances. As far as the trust issue goes ( ensuring people actually isolate) It’s surely no different to anyone testing positive in the uk- we are allowed to isolate at home and not it a government facility. And Greek locals isolate at home. I think the temptation to break isolation would be less at the end of the holiday anyway.

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 09/08/2021 11:59

We've just had our return COVID tests -
All negative but it was a nervous half hour !

Delatron · 09/08/2021 12:03

Yes I read that @PlumpCushion it does say you may be able to remain in your accommodation depending on circumstances. It’s worth a try if the worst happens anyway.

FizzyPink · 09/08/2021 12:15

We’ve packed a load of lateral flow tests just for the peace of mind so there aren’t any nasty shocks when we come to go home. We’ll also test before we fly in case of airport testing when we arrive

GrealishHairband · 09/08/2021 12:56

@rufus77 I’ve posted above but this was DD’s trajectory of tests. First tested positive on LFT’s on 31 July. So took 6 days to be negative.

Best of luck. It’s been a nervy few days here. Just got to get through the next week now…
