Best time to book flights for October half term

Does anyone know when/if more flights will be released? Looking to go to the canaries in October (if possible obv) but there's very few flights out there atm and not helped by there now being so few airlines. Prices are even more extortionate than usual for that week.
Do we take the risk to hold off and hope more flights are released or just suck it up and buy now?

In a similar situation. October is a very busy time for canaries so I’d be surprised if more flights weren’t put on, but we need a bit more certainty about travel I think. We’re holding out but are willing to lose out if it doesn’t happen

I think the tricky thing is knowing where to even look for flights! So many airlines that we have flown with in the past don't exist any more Confused

Use google flights or skyscanner to compare flights. Google flights lets you select more than one possible departure/destination airport so you can see various options if you want.

I travel a lot for work even now and from the monitoring I’ve been doing this year, I’d say what’s online at the moment is approx 80-90% of the flights that they will offer. They might add a few but it’s no guarantee - if anything, they’re more likely to cancel flights. Canaries hopefully shouldn’t be too affected as it’s a popular destination especially at half term.

I’m going to Italy in 2 weeks and I was very close to booking expensive connecting flights as there just weren’t many options on the dates I needed. Only 10 days ago did they add a direct Ryanair route to the city I needed to get to - so less than a month before departure. They were dirt cheap so it was worth it holding out in the end, but this is very much an exception to what I have experienced all year long.

Which route are you looking at and how do prices compare to say 2 years ago?

At this stage you might be better looking at packages with Jet 2 rather than flights, if that's a possibility. I've noticed that their flight prices are often high, but package holidays less so.
Easyjet are ridiculously high because everyone ( including me) has moved flights to then in the hope we can go without ridiculous costs for testing.

We've got accommodation but if that's the case might even be worth taking the flights and not using the accommodation!

If you end up doing that, read the T&C carefully as they could cancel your return flights if you haven’t used X items from the package (eg accommodation) during your stay.

Oh ok Eileen thanks for the warning! I wouldn't have realised.
