Did you quarantine for 10 days or test to release?
Were you checked up on?
Did you truthfully quarantine fully?

Also keen to know this!

Mufflete · 24/06/2021 09:47

Not me but a friend. She did test to release, quarantined properly and was checked on every day, even after her release test!

hanketypankety · 24/06/2021 09:49

I hope no one answers no to this. This is why we are in this fucking mess

Medstudent12 · 24/06/2021 10:26

@hanketypankety covid rates in Greece etc are a fraction of what they are in the U.K. Everyone on the plane having had a negative test to get on board. Me personally I’ve had covid and I’m double vaccinated.

I’ve been to some U.K. beauty spots recently, they’re absolutely rammed, no social distancing. I’m not sure you can argue that going to sit on a beach, staying in self catered accom in a country with far lower rates is more dangerous than a rammed U.K. holiday resort. Just my opinion.

The alternative is thousands of job losses in the travel industry. You may like holidaying in the U.K. but plenty of us don’t. You can lock yourself away forever if you’d like to.

Ooof! Did I say I wanted everyone to lock themselves away or that I holiday in the UK? What I meant was those that travel to amber/red countries and don't follow the quarantine rules are one of the reasons why we are seeing all these variants being brought in. I just hope that if people are told they need to quarantine for whatever reason, they do.

Medstudent12 · 24/06/2021 14:08

@hanketypankety of course I'll quarantine :) if I get to go.

I also know that I need to be prepared to fork out more money in case I need to isolate etc when out there. It's far from risk free travel, I'm going in with my eyes open.

I thought they were much stricter with checking isolation is being done correctly this year. I hope they are. Going abroad is a privilege and we all need to follow the rules.

A friend of mine is currently doing the quarantine, they ring on average twice a day. They start each call by telling her her that they have done data protection training and that data will be shared with third parties. She asks them who the third parties are, they can’t answer. She says she doesn’t consent to that and they tell her there isn’t an opt out. It seems really dodgy.

She should have bought football tickets,m!

MsMiaWallace · 24/06/2021 15:07

Interesting. So all
They do is ring? Hardly a deterrent

My friend had the daily phone calls and a visit, he did the test to release on day 5 and still got calls upto day 10.

waterlane · 24/06/2021 15:31

Friends travelled to Portugal. Daily calls, sometimes twice a day and they said they knew people who had random door step visits from the home office. Also heard of people getting a call to say their location settings were off on their phones so I think people are being closely monitored. I'd say it's a bit intrusive but I don't think people can be trusted to stick to it otherwise

fiveminutebreak · 24/06/2021 22:50

Yes, we are quarantining. And doing test to release on day 5. We've had 2 calls asking the same information and one visit at 8am! Not v impressed as was v jet lagged!

We've not been anywhere but the back garden!

Hoping the day 5 tests come bsck within 24 hours ...

Fupoffyagrasshole · 24/06/2021 22:54

My mum came to stay with me after I had my baby - she was phoned daily and just stayed in my house / sat in the garden the whole 10 days - didn’t bother doing the test to release cus we weren’t planning on going out anywhere anyway as her sole reason was to see if the baby and help me out

MsMiaWallace · 25/06/2021 09:14

What happens if you miss the phone call?
Wouldn't want to get fined due to a missed call!!

DH and I quarantined recently for the full ten days. We were called individually once a day, sometimes on mobile and sometimes on landline. We had one home visit, although the woman had the wrong details - our address but not our name Hmm.
I ordered a shopping deliveries in advance and it was fine.
I did miss one call whilst out in the garden but they just rang back again later.

Littlemissweepy · 25/06/2021 10:51

For those that don’t have a landline (me), how does ringing someone on a mobile phone prove they are quarantined at home? I’m not planning on going to an amber or red country but I am curious about how they really check.
