They are not as expensive as in UK, has anyone booked one using their on line site? I am finding it a bit confusing, their addition doesn`t seem to tally with mine! Also is the price in Euros or pounds? Can anyone recommend one of the sites? Thanks!

Yes restaurants are all good (or at least were when we went). There is one which is a buffet style and they have a different theme each night e.g. chinese/ indian/ tex mex. Also burger bar type food and a posher more grown up restaurant.
Supermarket is fine- you can get most of what you need but take tea bags- they are horrid on the continent. (God I sound like my mum!)
The Breskens ferry sounds familiar.

Thanks for that Smartie!

we are looking at the Holland ones - very cheap but ferry costs will double the price - we have 10 yr old and a 7 yr old boys - any tips for which one to choose?
Anyone done it by plane and train?

filthymindedvixen · 05/01/2008 13:29

Specifically Port Zandfoort!

filthymindedvixen · 05/01/2008 15:01

bump?

What attracts you to Port Zandfoort? My DSs will be 7 and 9 and I, being a CP virgin (one day, childfree on a guest pass at Longleat notwithstanding!) am currently considering Kempervennen, based as much as anything on the Holidaywatchdog reviews. I'm about to start a thread on that to see if I can get some specifics!

We have been to Loohorst in Holland recently and Heilbachsee in Germany. The German one is probably a bit far away if you are coming over from UK but the Dutch one is about 2 - 3 hours, depending on which ferry port you sail to.

We always book a few days or a week ahead. We paid 50euros for a weekend for 6 people in Heilbachsee and 150euros for weekend for 5 in Loohorst.

These two parks are not quite as good as the others, the pools are less spectacular but at that price we are not complaining. The accomodation was fine. And the pool at Loohorst was perfect for our DC's ages, 3 and 5yo, there were several baby pools. So great for under 8yo. Might be a bit boring for older children.

Have a look at their Last Chance offers

oh, and Loohorst and Het Heijderbos are less than an hour from Niederrhein Airport where Ryanair fly to. You would need to hire a car though, I think.

filthymindedvixen · 06/01/2008 19:32

miljee - mostly the fact that we can get there on public transport (we can fly from our local airport to Schiphol and then bus to the CP, then a 5 min walk.
We have tried to book a car for the week we are interested in but there is bugger all availability (in our budget)

Fithymindedvixen - we did cp eemhoof last august flying from birmingham to schipol for £50 each return then initially got train half way there and got a taxi, taximan very nice and picked us up the next week to take us back from CP at a 'cheap' price of 45 euros, which was cheaper than train/taxi.
