Hi. Does anyone know what carrycot I can use for 85 cm infant? Needs to be very light as it will be sitting on 2 adults knees (dd will be a lap infant). Or any advice on how to make her sleep comfortably will be greatly appreciated.

I thought perhaps I can make it myself, if non is available to buy. what I basically need is a tough flat surface in a carrycot shape, and I will make a cover myself. Just cant think of anything to use as a base. what do u think?

Do you mean you want to take a carrycot on a plane? If you are flying with an infant you can book a bassinet, or skycot. They are provided by the airline and clip onto the bulkhead of the plane.

They won't let you have anything on your lap (apart from your baby with a seatbelt) on take off or landing, and a carrycot would have to go in the overhead locker as they won't let you put stuff on the floor during take off and landing.

I wanted to take it on a plane. The airline we flight doesnt provide a skycot but we allowed to take ours. I thought i can use it after take off for dd to sleep on a flat surface.

i think you may have to take it as your hand luggage if you want to do that.

In that case you may be better buying a Moses basket. They are quite light. Check with the airport and airline regarding size limits for hand luggage though, even if the airline say yes the airport security may not let you take it through if it's oversize.

they say I can take a hand luggage plus a carrycot. I will double check it.
Good point about airport security Sidge, will check it too. Thanks for replies

if she's 85cm she isn't likely to fit in a moses basket. how old is she?? ds is 17 months and isn't that height yet but there's no way he'd still fit in a carrycot or moses basket.

privet · 19/11/2007 14:29

she is 19 months. I think she wont fit in a moses basket but still have hope for a long carrycot. I mean I read some threads and people used carrycots for 1,5years.

most carrycots are the same size as moses basket.

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 14:34

oh except for silver cross ones. ds can still fit in my friends silver cross pram.

nappyaddict · 19/11/2007 14:36

i think the bugaboo carrycots are quite big too. she might fit in one of those.

thanks for replies nappyaddict.
themildmanneredjanitor it is an 8hour flight, never seen carry cot that big too. however on one thread someone used it for 1.5year(cant find this thread now).
I thought I can take a carrycot inside, because it is mentioned in a hand luggage allowance section( will need to double check with the airline).
thats it, next time will buy her a seat,
