Just that really. Can you tell me a bit more about it. Looks like lovely beeches, is there anything else to do? Towns and villages to visit? Restaurants? Scenery? Water sports? Best island to stay? Thanks!

Not me but people I know have been and said nothing to do at all. Hotel perfectly nice so they stayed there. They did venture into a town but it was nothing to write home about. They’re not adventurous at all though. It’s a long flight I’d hope there was something to do outside the hotel when you got there!

I’ve heard the same, a long way to go for just a hotel and beach, may as well go somewhere nearer.

I went about 4 years ago. It was cloudy a lot of the time and quite bare looking. Didn't venture out of the hotel to be honest, I wouldn't go again

I know people that have been and said lovely beaches, but bugger all else to do or look at outside the hotel.

Yes. Just once. It was a long flight to go and sit in an all inclusive. Very very windy. Flies everywhere. I went in June.
Honestly. I wouldn’t go back. Have been to Turkey since. And Greece.

Beautiful place to go for a week and rest but...

Windy
Nothing to do
Long flight
I got horrendous food poisoning which ruined the last half of my holiday, and I was ill for 6 weeks after getting home

I think a lot of people go for winter Sun as it's guaranteed much more than even the Canaries.I've been to the Canaries and it's been very mixed in October.

We're booked for October half term. Just plan on sunshine, reading, relaxing and doing bugger all.

Lovely beaches, but nothing outside of hotels. If you are happy to have a relaxing pool and beach holiday it’s great, but if you want to go for a wander to shops, bars and restaurants then it’s not for you.

Nothing to do, that's all I need to hear. Will
cross it off my list!

We went in Dec, long time ago, maybe 2006, there was only 1 all inc on Sol at that point. I didn’t think it was boring at all, we went on boat trips to other islands and a full day trip by plane to Fogo, the volcanic island which was fab.

Lots of Watersports if that’s your thing and a kite surfing school near our hotel.

I did get food poisoning in our 2nd week which was grim but that could happen anywhere.

It’s worth a look. It was really sunny (sun burn temps in Dec).

My friend went and had a lovely time, she went in August and went on an excursion nearly every day. She said her family did lots of nature/wildlife trips which they enjoyed.

Visited a few years ago in April

Went on a 4 wheel buggy ride to the salt mines
Paddled with sharks in the sea
Went on a sailing boat/snorkel
Went horse riding on the beach & sand dunes
The small town only had a few (less than 10) places to eat outside the all inclusive hotel
It was windy & the sea was rough
Some confusion about whether a visa was payable at the entry point at the airport

It is the opposite of Costa Blanca, Benidorm or the Canary Islands

Suggest take something to read

We stayed on Sol like a desert. Was warm but windy living on the beach was like getting sand blasted.
There are a few trips around the island paddle with sharks, visit old salt mine. Day on a sailing boat. Fish market on pier. You can entertain yourself for a week but wouldn’t want to go for any longer. Other islands are greener.
We went all inclusive and the food was let’s say different they even served up barnacles one night. Drink service was slow.

We went 2 years ago in September and had a great time.
The flight is less than 6 hours and we paid around £4K AI for a 5 star hotel in a lovely 2 bedroom suite. Yes there wasn’t much to do but we chilled out by the pool or went snorkelling off the beach. We did do a 1 day trip and did loads such as paddling with baby sharks, jumping off rocks into the sea, visiting a fish market on a pier and out into the dessert, we probably should have done 2 half days as we were knackered
Kids were 10 and 14 and had a brilliant time. I would go back
