Disneyland Paris at Easter with a (just under) 2 year old - Would it be worth it ?

I'm sorely tempted as I have just realised Easter is really early next year, its a week before Dss 2nd birthday so still free to fly.

Thing is, is he too young to enjoy it, would we be better waiting until he is 4 or 5 ?

Also could the weather at Easter be iffy ?

I looked at the Explorers hotel because its got a bit of a separate sleeping area in the same room. Anyone been there is it any good ?

The two year old isn't going to get a lot out of it.

I went at christmas when my eldest was 7 and that seemed to be a good age - we could go on lots of rides and we enjoyed the christmas parade - wether was ok a little cold but we were well wraped up.

Went at easter with both my dd's and the youngest was 7 - weather was wet but still ok day.

I would wait until child is older and can enjoy at least a few of the rides and know what the different things are about.

also it will be expensive as what you save on him will be out weighed by the fact it is easter. Avoid public holidays like teh plague

Easter is a rotten time to go to Disney - you risk bad weather, there will be loads of people, it will be expensive. And at just under 2 your LO is far to young to appreciate it.

Thanks everyone, thats exactly what I needed to know !

we've just got back from Disneyland with the dd's 5 and 2, and friends and thier dd aged 5, they all had a ball. DD2 aged 2 hasn't stopped talking about it, the rides she went on seeing mickey (that she didn't give him a cuddle like dd1!) the parades (we get mini ones of these now) she loved it, i would say 2 is a great age to take them. she could go on most rides, loved 'its a small world' and the 'madhatters teacups' we all had great fun.

but if your not tied to school holidays then go out side of them

tinpot · 11/11/2007 19:51

We went to DLP with our ds when he was just over 2 and he did enjoy it. He doesn't remember it now, but he did for quite a while after. I don't think he won't get anything out of it, but you will probably be like us and plan to go again at 4 or 5. We stayed at holiday inn and the room had a curtain around the child's bed to separate it from the main sleeping area.

Unfitmother · 11/11/2007 19:55

Too young, I think, they'll get a lot more out of it when they're older.

LIZS · 11/11/2007 20:31

We took ds around that age and dd a bit older . Neither were that keen on the oversized characters (cue dd having hysterics in the character breakfast) but enjoyed it overall althgouh it could have been any theme park/fairground really. No real memories of it now though.

Leslaki · 11/11/2007 21:52

My dd was 18m and ds 33 m when we took them and thye loved it!!! Kept 'talking' about it and they enjoyed it so much we went back 2 years later! They did enjoy characters more 2nd time round but were just so innocently excited by the wholething firsttime round it was worth it!!! Plus if you take the buggy they're no hassle. Cost us more 2nd time round as they were so into characters dh kept buyingthem toys and you have to queue for better rides!!!

Leslaki · 11/11/2007 21:53

we went early Dec mid week - fab time as it's SO Christmassy!!! Would do Dec again - not sure about easter or summer.

rookiemum · 11/11/2007 22:04

I think the consensus is that Easter is not the time to do it and DS may be slightly too young.

For once DH is quite happy with Mumsnet, its just saved us an expensive trip !

I have been with my children, and think a two year old wouldn't appreciate it much. For what it would cost to go there for a few days (and what you would need in spending money) why not treat the three of you to a last minute HOT holiday abroad for a week, before he's two and you have to pay for him? The canaries is warm all year and not to far!Lay back and watch him play for hours on the beach with a bucket and spade.....thats what i would do.
