Only hols I've ever done with childcare are with P&O cruises. They are fab. And you don't even have to fly.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 12/11/2007 11:48

sorry to hijack... we are looking at the P&O cruises, for April. Do you think there's enough to keep a 2 yr old busy?

MrsCellophane · 12/11/2007 17:12

You may regret getting me started on this, fairy!

Yes, our 2 yo was v happy for a week on Oceana. Once they are 2, they can be left in the children's play room (3 rooms for different age groups).

We didn't leave ours in for a long time, but when he did go, he was very happy. They have fully-planned days, loads of different activities - treasure hunts, sticking, baking, magic shows etc. The staff are absolutely LOVELY (been on 2, Aurora and Oceana).

One or two of the pools will be available for children to use (though they are quite small) and they have to be toilet-trained or wearing swim nappy).

We took ours to the children's tea at 5.15 every day. There was everything imaginable, and it was all bedecked with high chairs.
Then we left them in the clubs, whilst we had a grown-up dinner... bliss!

We like cities with LOs, because we can find so much to do with them.

Any more questions? Bring 'em on!

MrsCellophane · 12/11/2007 17:16

(Should point out that we had a bigger cabin, so that LOs had somewhere to play, away from everyone else. If you can afford it,it's well worth it).

Actually, there's probably not much else for LOs to do, outside of the playroom, but then that's probably the same as any hotel. Then again, you should be going ashore.. so lots of buses and exciting things to do then!

What ages and how much childcare to do require - it makes a very big difference if you want occassional evening babysitting for an 18 mth old, or a couple of hours fun time in the afternoon for a 4 yr old - or all day football for an 11 yr old - tell us more ?

goldenoldie · 12/11/2007 19:59

MC - thanks for the suggestion I will check out P&O - what size cabin should I look for?

Oblomov - we have a two 2 year olds & 12 a year old. I'm looking for 4/5 hrs childcare for toddlers during the day and evening babysitting most evenings when they are asleep.

If there are 5 of you, I think you'd have to have 2 cabins. Whether or not they do adjoining ones, I don't know.

goldenoldie · 13/11/2007 08:00

we would def want adjoining cabins - the tots go down at 7, don't fancy sitting in darkness/silence every night!

mrs c - don't see any P

God there are so many companies that might cater for you. We have been on two 'First Choice' holidays and found them to be just fine - have a look at their website. or there are loads of more upmarket type's , depending on your budget. Or cheaper
