Where is your favourite part of France for a family?

Planning a a family holiday for who knows when! We have been to Vendee and to Paris, so would like somewhere different. Looking for good weather, plenty to do for everyone (kids aged toddler to high school). Preferably a little off the beaten track and not too busy. We would like a bit of space, not a small apartment by a packed beach.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The French Alps for definite, Annecy, Chamonix, the border with Switzerland and north Italy, swimming in the lakes, the views, the chair lifts, the cowbells in wildflower meadows, the sunsets, the castles, the food ah, my heart is definitely in the French Alps. So many things for the kids to see and do, so many places to visit, Definitely hire a car though.
Good luck OP!

We had a great time in the Loire Valley. Markets, Chateaux, Gardens, the Abbey at Fontevraud and some houses built into a cliff if I remember correctly. We were in the off season but it looked like in the spring and summer there were opportunities for canoeing and also cycling on flat paths. I think they train Lipitzana horses there and you can go and watch.
