Northern lights/aurora borealis

I am interested in booking a holiday in the distant future (COVID) to see the Nothern Lights.

There is quite a lot of information when I google and I have no idea where to start.

Can anyone point me in the right direction/give tips/experiences etc?

And a rough cost.

TIA

But the tiny patch of what looked like faint white cloud apparently counted as having seen them.

The same with the Hurtigruten - a faint patch of green qualified. However they do announce it, so if you are in your cabin, you can go and scuttle up on deck to try to catch them.

As others have said, it’s all down to luck and camera skills. We saw an amazing display in Iceland both by eye and camera, I’ll never forget it. However, choose to go somewhere you’ll enjoy whether you see them or not - we saw some incredible sights, glaciers, geysers, black sand beaches etc, and of course a trip to the Blue Lagoon. If you’d enjoy skiing, husky sledding, snowmobile rides etc, Finland might be a better choice. Try and think of the lights as a bonus 🙂

A couple of years ago, I went to Iceland in January

Yes saw the Northern lights & they were amazing, dancing & moving

It is a natural phenomenon, so it is not guaranteed

I've also seen them in Scotland
