What's happening to Waterloo International Terminal?

I know that St Pancras is going to be the station for the Eurostar from next week, but I can't find out what is happening to Waterloo International (well, I haven't tried too hard, thought I would start here!).

I worked for Eurostar back when it first started in 1994, and Waterloo International has a special place in my heart, sad person that I am.

Any of the London MNers have any idea what's going to happen?

being closed I believe. (I travel into St Pancras every day and that's what most people seem to think I'm afraid)

I don't think anything is happening to it apart from shutting the Eurostar bit, last train is on the 13th and then that is that!

I heard someone saying that they would just use the platforms for normal trains! Not 100% sure though so don't quote me.

Seems crazy to me if they are really going to close it down, when I started, before it opened, we used to take people on tours around the terminal and tell them all about how much it cost to build, etc, etc.

Why would they spend all that money and make such a big fanfare about it (the Queen came to open it etc, etc) if they were planning on closing it within 13 years?

I can't see that it's really set up for normal trains, either - too much like an airport terminal I would have thought.

It's a shame for us (we're much closer to Waterloo)but yes I gather the station is too crowded and the Eurostar bit will be turned back into platforms for UK trains. Good old Sarf London train travels through it yet can't benefit in same way. It's a shame too in this world of global warming they can't keep it going into both stations and cut travel time for lots of people.
But I gather the French have never been quite happy with Eurostar going to Waterloo
