Anyone any experience of this place as a place to visit at christmas allowing our lo's to see santa and SNOW (!!)...?

Wanted to go to lapland BUT with dd (2.6 years) and ds (9 month)I don't think they would be old enough to appreciate such a journey atm iykwim.

DH read a write up about the above place in the times and has since looked it up on the internet. Looks fab for a weekend break.
Anyone any experience and can you recommend somewhere nice to stay. Looked at the macdonald chain hotel BUT tripadvisor don't give it too good a write up...
Looking for somewhere nice and luxary.

personally I hope there's no snow at Christmas as we're driving up from SE England on the 23rd and coming back on the 2nd Jan - I've driven before in snow and ice, and I'd rather not do it again .

it's done that before shhh - the snow clears in Scotland as we leave here, and starts here, then is clear down here by when we get back!

Coylumbridge is good for kids: activities, early dinners, a pool and a big softplay place. It also has an outdoor activity park with a climbing wall a a dry slope in case there is no snow. It is a Hilton so it's not too bad . They have family rooms and suites.
You will be able to see reindeer even if no snow

There are two hiltons one more in the centre of aviemore walking diostance to the town, but the coylumbridge is further out.

I recommend the Ski-Ing Doo Restaurant tiny wee place but fab food and great staff. A quick google will find some great reviews, its been on the go fo 24 years.

Another vote for the Coylumbridge. I also used to live near Aviemore years ago and remember it being really posh. (although, like Pruner I do think that my idea of posh then and now are somewhat different)

Loch Morlich is lovely (where the reindeer are) and the little shop and cafe at Glenmore used to be good. Not posh but yummy apfelstrudel.

Funicular railway is a good way of seeing the cairngorms with children.

Highland Resort was renovated a while ago, not seen it since it has been done up but have heard it is good.

Oh, and the skiing doo restaurant is great.

Having a little walk down memory lane at the moment!

You can spend the entire night reading all the funny stuf and looking at all the pictures on the Skiing Do walls and they like to give you shooters and other drinks very good with kids but I don't think they have high chairs, bu they might do now. My DS was sat in his back pack carrier strapped to a chair in his kilt aged about 9 mths.
