Jumeirah Beach Hotel, is it worth to pay extra? (Dubai)

We are planning to go to Dubai during this winter. It's our first time in Dubai.
Looking at many hotels, I am fascinated
with Jumeirah Beach Hotel and reviews are superb.

Then when it comes to cost, it's alomost or more than double compared to 4 star hotels. These 4 stars also have great reviews and we can stay upto 2 weeks all inclusive (Club room) with money we can only stay for a week in Jumeirah Beach Hotel(BB just normal see view room). Jumeirah seems like a perfectly catered place for young children. And wild wadi is right next to it according to hotel description with unlimited access to the guests.
DS is 3 and not sure if he will like wild wadi but all sound so good for my son.

So dilemma is....is it worth paying extra to
stay at Jumeirah Beach Hotels for a week rather than staying at 4 star hotels for 10-14days? It's going to be most expensive holiday we had so far.

any comments will be appreciated!

We've stayed in the Jumeirah Beach Club, which is, iirc, owned by the same people, and just down the road from the hotel. It was lovely. This was pre kids though.

Sorry that's probably not a lot of help, but at least it bumps your message .

Have a lovely time, wherever you decide to stay.

I would go for the cheaper option.

Tbh I wasn't that impressed with wild wadi when we went a few yrs ago.Ds was 3 at the time didn't like water on his face so it was wasted on him.My dd wasn't as impressed as she was with water park in florida.

What are the other hotels like, can you do links to them.

Is the jemeirah the big sail one?

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/10/2007 22:53

No ggirl - Burj Al Arab is the sail one. JB is shaped like a wave.

brimfull · 31/10/2007 22:54

ah right,thanks

Whooosh · 31/10/2007 22:59

JB was fantastic when we went-best breakfast Ihave had in any hotel in the world-(and I've been to a fair few).
I loved Wild Wadi and it was great to beable just to walk through the grounds to it.
I find Dubai pretty boring, personally so any added attraction I feel is good. The kids pool at JB is great oo,with a huge pirate ship in it.
Have no experience of other child facilities though....

I have stayed at Jumeira Beach. It is lovely.
Admittedly, I have stayed at many luxury hotels, and Jumeira comes up trumps as probably the most luxurious. The breakfasts are truly scrumptious. They have nice gardens, and pools for night time dips.
I had the nicest ever BBQ'd lobster and tuna at Jumeira. The bar on the top floor is great, fantastic views. And also, you get access to the Burj Al Arab which is THE most luxurious hotel in the world. And believe you me it is truly splendid. We went for drinks in one of the bars (think it was top floor), and we enjoyed the company of sheiks there.

You dont want to stay 14 days in Dubai, truly, you dont. There is not that much to do. Do go on a dessert safari. Make sure you experience the dessert at sunset, it is really beautiful. Take a night time cruise on the gulf.

Enjoy your stay.

ohh thanks a lot for all your comments.

ggirl

this is the official site of JB
www.jumeirahbeachhotel.com/

and other hotels I browsed are
LE MERIDIEN MINA SEYAHI BEACH,
Oasis Beach Hotel etc
They all seem to provide excellent service.

hmmm now I've decided where to stay.
Stormy, wont miss beautiful sunset at dessert.
view will take my breath away.

Errrrrmmmm ... is this for real?

ruddynorah · 01/11/2007 01:32

that makes me want to vomit. it is real in as far as they have it as a heli pad, not sure about the tennis. surely a loose ball would kill someone on the ground.

slim22 · 01/11/2007 01:49

Agree 2 weeks way too long.

Stayed at the royal mirage on a stopover. More than enough. I really did not like the whole athmosphere. That overflow of money and bad taste made me feel nauseous. Puzzles me that anyone chooses to spend a holiday there.

A couple of days in desert sounds great though. I believe there a place called Al Wadi camp.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/11/2007 09:44

pmsl @ tennis on the helipad!

I think it's Al Maha you're thinking of in the desert, not Al Wadi. I'd like to stay there.

flowerybeanbag · 01/11/2007 09:55

We have stayed at the Jumeirah Beach, was the best hotel I have ever stayed at, well worth it, incredible service, gorgeous views

We had a meal at the Burj Al Arab as well and Wild Wadi was fab, and so handy.

I don't work for them honest

slim22 · 01/11/2007 10:01

Al Maha desert camp!
thx CSWS.

I've stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and also the Al Qasr in Madinat Jumeirah which is one of the three newer (and even more luxurious!) Jumeirah International hotels sited the other side of the Wild Wadi. We had the children with us on both occasions aged 7 and 10 (we went twice the same year). Without a doubt the JBH is one of the most child friendly and luxurious hotels we have stayed in (surpassed by the Al Qasr) and in addition to the Wild Wadi access there is also a huge adventure playground on site which your 3 year old will love. The kids club is excellent but I have a feeling that the minimum age is 4 although don't take my word on that - check the website.
If you do stay there I recommend paying the extra (gulp) for a Premium Leisure Club room which gives you access to the premium leisure club lounge where there are toys, TVs, consoles etc for the children and you and dp can enjoy complementary coffee/snacks/afternoon tea/evening coctails and canapes whilst your little one plays safely. We used to have afternoon tea instead of lunch so the extra cost evened itself out a little.
On both occasions we booked flights and accommodation separately as it was cheaper than a package. Look here for an example of room only prices. The Premium Leisure Club room prices are also listed.

The Mina al Salaam is lovely (don't know what the children's facilities are like though, as that was before dd).
