Almost two year old and Walt Disney World

Hi all,

After all the doom and gloom of last year and probably at least the first half of this year.

We've decided we want to book Walt Disney world for two weeks in November 2022 when DS will be 22 months old (almost 2) mainly because he's free and I'm cheap Grin I know he won't remember it but we will and we'll have a lot of videos and memories etc and then will hopefully take him again when he's older, I'm thinking of taking $3500-$4000 for food and shopping etc but honestly don't expect to spend that much but will spend a bit extra on a plane seat for him as don't fancy a 2 year old on my knee for 9+ hours so I was just wondering about other peoples experience with taking a two year old? Preferably from the uk and you can tell me about the flight but just in general really - was it a good holiday or do you wish you never did it?

Thanks x

We did it with a 17month old. We also paid for a seat for him on the plane. Tho we had 5 adults on the holiday so took it in turns to look after him in the park. Great times.

I took my little one at 10 months old and she loved it, napped in her buggy when she was tired and even slept through the fireworks. Great that you can hire buggys T the parks too. However i would be cautious now as Disney require 2 years old and above to wear masks, im not sure how that would go down in the heat with my little one, hopefully that will change though

My 3yo loved it. Loads for them to see and do. Lots of rides and character meets.
Plus the water parks and hotel swimming pool are lots of fun.

Mine wasn't phased by the long aeroplane journey.

And we had such a great time we went again the following year. It's an easy holiday because they have it all set up to be simple to access with transportation, pushchair friendly mostly, food readily available & I loved not having to find entertainment... it's all just there in your face.

I find beach holidays and even UK hols require so much more input to keep DC having a good time. Disney is brilliant at any age. We'd have gone again last year but Covid-19. I'll be waiting now until they bring back meal plans & magic house

My son is currently 22 months old and honestly, he would hate every second of that. At 22 months they don’t have the capacity to understand “don’t run off” (well they do, they just don’t listen) so you’ll be running after a toddler who just wants to go and explore. Either that, or you’re asking a toddler to sit for hours on end in a buggy. That’s not fun for them, and believe me, it won’t be fun for you either. I can’t think of anything worse. Save it and go when he’s older and you can all enjoy it together.

My children absolutely loved Disneyworld and I think around 1-3 years old they probably were the easiest to deal with there - just so much to look at everywhere, sleep in the buggies, baby centres for changing and warming up milk. Honestly Disney is completely built around catering to children of all ages that it's stress free. It's so easy-going and at that age they don't care about queuing up to meet all the characters and what rides they go on like an older child so it's much more relaxed in a day what you do. It doesn't matter if you miss a show or ride with a younger child. It's so magical for all age groups but I think especially for that age! Mine still love looking at the photos of them there when they were younger too :)

I wouldn't worry about the flight or time differences either. We did plenty of 10hr + flights and all were fine. Just take a tablet and download films from Disney Plus on there, lots of snacks, activity books, new little toys and an old favourite, walks along the aisle way.

Disney is expensive and you can get lots of Disney stuff at Walmart, plenty of new snacks to buy there and nice to have a browse anyway.

If you go out of season - it’s actually not that much more expensive to go to Florida. DL Paris is very expensive.
