Planning on going to Sharm El Sheikh in March with DS who will be 15 months.
Does anyone know if it's a good time of year to go, if it's a good place to go with a 15 month old and also I hear about a lot of people getting ill in Egypt and am concerned DS will get sick. Is it worse than any other holiday destination?

I've just come back from Sharm and stayed at Savoy. Met a couple there who usually stay at the Hyatt and she was singing it's praises. She said it was fantastic and immaculate.

With such a tiny one I would anti bac spray hands whenever you touch money (it's filthy) and although the ice in drinks is fine, stick to the bottled water.

I was fine, but DH currently has salmonella from the last night (returned 18/10) and is a stone thinner (jealous!).

I think if you go to Sharm then Hyatt is the best but get more kiddie friendly opinions.

hi mylittleman we're back from hyatt regency in sharm el sheikh and it was brilliant! Perfect weather, rooms food etc. It was great for my children who are nearly 4 and 7 years old. They have a lazy river swimming pool and a slide which kept the children happy for hours. We stayed in the regency part of the hotel in an enormous one bedroomed suite. It was fantastic! The regency beach was definately the best one with great snorkelling.

We were careful with food and had no unpeeled fruit or salads. The children had ice cream and ice cubes in their drinks and were fine. The hotel is immaculate and very clean. The staff were very friendly and nice with the children even when they smashed a glass table and a vase! I can't wait to go again.

Thanks LG. Really glad you had a wonderful time and that you didn't get sick at all. Good to know you are already planning on going again - must have been great!

mylittleman we have been a couple of times now with 2 boys under 10. It's a great place.

Lots of fish for your little one to see. A variety of pools! The food is very good, one of the best breakfast buffets we've ever seen.

The staff are excellent. Rooms are large and air conditioned.

We go in October half term, the sea is warm, but we take little wetsuit for our boys, so that they can snorkle for longer.

The sand isn't beautiful, but still bucket and spade-able.

We've been to Egypt 3 times now (we did Cairo another time) and have only been ill once, on the last day of our last visit!

We avoid ice and salads. Have fruit that we can peel ourselves.

We didn't eat in town, we just popped down there for a snorkelling mask once and a quick look around.

We will go back there one day, we find it really relaxing.

Hiya - been looking to go to Egypt but I have a few questions - hopefully one of you lovely ladies will be able to help...

Thinking of going late Feb/early march - will it be warm enough then? Also will it not be too warm for ds 10 months?

How long is the flight?

Is the Hyatt the best hotel to stay in?

Any problems that I may have?

Is there much to do - well enough for the 3of us to fill in a week?

Many Thanks

hi, not sure about that time of year, as we go in October.

Hyatt is fantastic!!

The flight is about 5 hours.

Lovely place for a week, although we tend to take it easy, and don't explore much. Swimming, snorkelling and more swimming!
