Legoland fireworks - any tips?

We are old hands at Legoland but have never been to the fireworks before. DS (4) is very keen to go. We'll be going early on the day and taking picnic lunch and supper. Where's a good place to watch them from? Which things open up again after the fireworks have finished? Is is best to hang around for a while afterwards or make a beeline for the exit?

I last did it many years ago. I don't recall anything opening up afterwards, but perhaps I was just keen to get away because it was so freezing. On that note, I would say that make sure you are all well wrapped up - even if it is a nice day, it gets very cold at night, especially when you are stuck in one spot.

We pitched up in Mini land, IIRC.

We're thinking of going tomorrow but may not stay for fireworks. Last year's weren't that great tbh and it took us almost 2 hours just to leave the car park afterwards as there was a fire in the neigbourhood and they closed the roads. Decent view from by the models but for a quick exit I'd stand as high as you can manage or hang around as they do reopen some of the rides but iirc it was mainly the roller coasters. Not promising weather for a picnic.

Think we're going to pass - damp, grey and unpleasant here today and can't muster enthusiasm for spending ££ just to get wetter and not dry out

Are you still going ? Another thing I remembered from last year is that the rides shut down before the fireworks start (at 6.30 ish iirc) and this can be as from 5.30 with the queues being closed off as early as 5. So you may get left with time to kill in between times and it probably won't be warm enough to stay outdoors that long.

We went last year. It was very busy but Ds was enchanted! Took an hour to get in, and several to get out and home although Ds slept through this so it wasnt too awful. We went back to the car for tea/play/rest and warming up (remember to collect return passes). I took a flask of hot chocolate and it was useful as the Qs were long. Waiting around for the fireworks was a bit boring (Ds kept wandering off looking for fun! nightmare!) until some entertainment started. It was too dim to read stories. The roller coasters and a few smaller rides reopened afterwards. We were near some speakers (loud music), somewhere in the middle, by the miniland not the best view although the reflections in the water were pretty. I suspect the top of the hill would have been better and quieter and easier to get out!

Have you been yet? I've just got back. Several rides open afterwards: chopper squadron, duplo train, dragon & apprentice coaster, driving schools, fire academy, hill train, lego city fairground, and the 3D cinema. Not viking falls or adventureland. We left at about 8pm and still had to queue to get out and it was very busy. We watched from miniland. The rides were closing from about 5.30, to clear the queus by 6.15, so we got coffee annd icecreams and wandered around miniland to kill the time.

The fireworks are AWESOME

Thanks everyone, all very helpful. We are going next Saturday and I think the plan is to kill the time between rides and fireworks with a picnic supper (wrapped up very warm!) and a visit to the shop if it's open, and then watch from the top of the hill and beat a hasty retreat afterwards.

Just to resurrect this thread, if we go tomorrow (Nov 3rd) what will the queues be like for the rides during the day? And to get in at 10am?
