Daft questions about Egypt - Beetroot, you around?

Right - am going to Sofitel Taba Heights (on Beeties recommendation) in December for our 10th wedding anniversary. Here are my questions:

  • I know the voltage is the same as here. Are the plugs three-pin or will we need adaptors?

  • Are disposable nappies mega-expensive in Taba or cheap? Basically - should I take or buy there?

  • Errr.... brain has died and DD has woken. Will add more later.

TIA

I went to the Hyatt whatsit at Taba Heights about 18 months ago... will try to rack brains...

  • have a feeling that 3 pin will be fine, but will check with dh this evening, who remembers these things...
  • i bought a few there as i ran out. If you buy in the hotel shop, they will be expensive (but having said that, they got in exactly the size and make I asked for when they didn't seem to have what I wanted...). BUT if you go to the shops up at the village-y bit (if you can call it that, the whole lot feels 100% man made for tourism), then they seemed to sell EVERYTHING for normal prices. We did one trip up to the shops to stock up on bottled water etc, and felt it was worth it. I know it was a great big resort, but I loved our holiday there, the snorkelling was FAB and it was just so relaxing. Have a great time, and do post more questions if you want...

No problem. Have a fab time, am feeling rather envious...

Last thought, take the nappies, I would imagine the last thing you want to do while on (hopefully) relaxing holiday is to worry about where to find nappies. Chuck it all in a giant suitcase and assume you will never have to carry the actual bag yourself anywhere!

Yeah, you're right. I think it may be a struggle getting it all within our weight limit though.

Hi, coming in late, but just to say that the plugs in Egypt are round 2-pin type so you will need an adaptor.

The plugs are like the razor sockets you get in England. They also have them everywhere, including in the bathroom and you can in fact plug in your hairdryer right over the sink. Very useful if rather scary.

You will probably be able to buy nappies at the resort but they'll be expensive. You should def bring swim nappies, I found them impossible to get here when my kids needed them.

I remember trying to get ask for nappies at a hotel in Sharm, they didn't understand 'nappy' or ''diaper' or 'baby pants' or any other pigeon English phrase we could think of. Finally they said 'AAH - Pampers!' The power of branding!

Thanks cq
