Manchester with 8 year old daughter

I've booked my daughter aged 8 and myself into Manchester Travel lodge on the nights of the 28th and 29th October, (Sunday and Moinday night). Did it ages ago, she's on half term then. I've heard mixed reviews about the travel lodge, but thought I'd go one night and see what it's like, stay for 2 if it's ok.

Just wondering what is there to do in Manchester, that's of interest to children? She's not keen on shopping but likes museums and all kinds of entertainment.

If anyone can give suggestions I'd appreciate it!

Thanks

SK

Science and Industry Museum fab, free and brilliant for kids of this age. manchester Museum great too (at the University) lots of exotic animals and frogs and stuff.

the Lowry Theatre always has good workshops on for kids but I think you need to book.

historical stuff Styal Cotton Mill (very interactive) and Tatton Park and for lovely parkland try dunham massey and lyme park.

If she likes football theres always the Man U Tour!!!

Hi SK
I had a week in Manchester with an 18 month old and a 5 year old as we decided to accompany hubby on a business trip!
We went to the Science Museum, excellent! Free and can easily spend a whole day there.

We went to another science museum too which was free, in the city centre, and probably spent 1-2 hours there.

We also visited the Trafford Centre and went to Southport for the day.

Have fun!
